Good Morning Fellow vape'ers,
OK so if you follow me you know my story to some extent; I work in healthcare and I am a huge advocate for PV's and Vapeing. I am an ex analog user for almost a year now and quite proud. I will take any given opportunity to introduce an Electronic Cig to anyone who is willing to listen or wants to convert. I am not shy!

So my facility has been having a battle with the whole tobacco free campus and has done well. They prescribe patches, gum, tic-tac like candies, and lozenges. Now that vapeing is becoming more popular this has raised the eyebrows of the "Moral Majority" (you know the type, over arrogant ex-smokers or those who harshly judge smokers). At any rate there bas been a huge support for my mission and I wish to give a Kudos shout out to Brewlady and Vocalek and their information from CASSA (http://CASSA.org). Brewlady and Vocalek you have helped so much; Thank You!

So at any rate there has been some nastiness going on at my facility and I just wanted to share a posting that my facility openly shares on our employee forum. We call it The Employee Voice. We can remain anonymous or just put everything out there. The post I am sharing was left anonymous by one of my "Moral Majority" members. At any rate I for one want to say that I am sick of being judged because it looks like something. I thought our society had gotten over the "Looks." I hope you all enjoy this post. I will be editing any names and the facility because I do not have any permissions for this but I honestly feel that we vape'ers need to be aware of what is out there for and against us.

subject: Patients and employees smoking electronic cigarettes at this facility

location comment is about: St. JoJo's The Wooded Hospital | responding leader: Mary Rutter [ Assistant Vice President - St. JoJo's The Wooded Hospital ] | topic: Public Image | type: Concern | employee profession: Nursing

employee comment:

In the ER they are taking a vote on allowing patients and employees to smoke those electronic cigarettes at this facility. I fully support St. JoJo's being a SMOKE FREE campus. I certainly hope this does not happen here. Imagaine what people would think.

Actually, this is not a unit decision. We are taking this concern to our Quality of Care and Patient Safety Committee to make a decision on use of electronic cigarettes. In doing research myself, I need to share that the electronic cigarette is tobacco and smoke free. What looks like smoke is a vapor that is released similar to the vapor that comes from nebulizer treatments. The Quality of Care Committee will develop the institutional policy which will then go to the Medical Staff and the Board. Look for more to come!

I hope you all like this! Mary Rutter by the way is not a smoker or a vape'er. We do have a voice and support. Brewlady and Vocalek I and a few others were the ones who gave Mary the pathway to the research. Thank you again for sharing it with me!
