DULCE (sweet) FUEGO (fire)

Dulce de Leche TFA 5.5%
Black Fire FA 3%

Notes:

--this is not an "in your face" tobacco vape. It's more like a fresh drag of very light, high-end-deluxe-type cig mingled with the last bite/taste of creme brulee. I find it extremely satisfying, and it's been the major part of my daily rotation for months (it's the one I'll panic over if I don't have enough for 'tomorrow').

--the flavors don't change much from steeping, although it does mellow a bit to become fuller and more well-rounded

--too much Black Fire = bacon

--too much Dulce de Leche overwhelms the Black Fire

--a nic that's 'strong' in flavor causes a need for a bit more flavoring - just like it does with all recipes. We've used ECX, Nude Nic, and WZL nics in this recipe at 12%...ECX & NN - perfect. WZL nic has a stronger flavor (to us) and caused a need for more flavoring (but we didn't want to bother figgering out 'how much more', so we just dumped it in with the big bottle and vaped it up.)

--I can't imagine 'adding' anything to this without having to up the percentage of the flavors - but something very subtle might work without changing the base recipe. There are many flavors that might work with it, but everytime I get serious about adding something my inner-voice says, "But it's perfect already. Leave it alone!"...and so I do.

'Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

[Edit: Yes, I did put our 'name' in the title. Yes, we are very proud of the vapes we create that we consider to be fantastic (as well as 'finished'). Fwiw-fyi, if we post a recipe, we've already done weeks/months worth of experimenting and we've vaped 'the finale' for several weeks/months. So you don't have worry about mixing it up and then seeing a bunch of posts telling how we changed it to make it better. (It's fine that others do that, but it's just not our style).

Also, currently, the max-size batch we make is 60 mls. I've never had a 60 ml bottle last more than 5-6 weeks, so I don't know if this will change after sitting around longer than that.]

Man you guys are brave. I tried the Black Fire at .5% in a pre-existing tobacco recipe and it made the recipe taste a bit like a burning log straight from a campfire. I haven't revisited it since, but this has my curiosity.

Aaaah yes indeedy - we recognize that burning log! Too much Black Fire seems to result in 'the burning log/campfire' flavor and/or the "It's BACON!" (on steroids) flavor. (Btw, we didn't start at 3% :))

For one of those 'unknown DIY reasons', the Dulce de Leche overwhelms the Black Fire very smoothly...allowing only what 'needs to be' to come through.

For those that don't already know ---> most "cream flavors" tend to somewhat 'smother' other flavors in various ways. However I doubt a typical 'cream' could accomplish what Dulce de Leche does with the Black Fire.

If you've got both on hand - mix up a lil' batch and give it a try. Even if it doesn't end up being a favorite, it's an amazingly combo.

I just wanted to say I made this a week ago and just tried it and I got to say wow and thank you

You're more than welcome!

I agree - wow. This really is an amazingly 'fancy' vape to be so simple to make. If I'd gotten it from a vendor, I'd swear it had 'secret ingredients' (and that there was no way it could be cloned)!

'Hope you enjoy it as much as we have!

I'll have to give this a shot.
Have everything to do so.
Just need to slot some time at the mixing table.
Hopefully Sunday!

Cool deal!

We're gonna be 'slotting in some time' at the mixing table this weekend, too. We're WAY behind on our "to make" and "to try" lists (and just got in 12 new flavors from Nude Nic).

Please feel more than welcom to 'update my description' and/or let us know what your impressions :).

Will do.
Wasn't able to get to the mixing table Sunday, but did spend a good portion of the afternoon today mixing up several batches of juice.
I put the Dulce Fuego in a 10ml bottle, and it is doing an overnight cap off steep after a nice warm water bath.
As I was mixing, I just couldn't get the name Fuego Leche out of my head!!!
Dulce Fuego has a much nicer ring to it though.....; )
I'll report back after testing.
Now, I have to clean and rewick about 12 dripping attys to test everything out tomorrow. LOL
I mixed 13 juices today.
Here is a pic of my impromptu mix station.
My mixing table is down for maintenance.
Yours is the 3rd syringe from the left.

Lol, I would have known that syringe anywhere! :)

Rewicking & cleaning 12, eh? Don't we wish we'd do that 'after using last time', rather than 'before using this time'?! Neither one of us is any good at that :::sigh:::

'Hope your mixing yielded major winners for ya!

I just wanted to say I use your advice and used 6% Dulce de Leche because I use Wizard lab Nic. It is so simple can be so good Thanks again.

Agreed! The WZL nic (or any other nic where one can sense the 'nic flavor') - supports the Black Fire, but diminishes the Dulce. 'Glad to hear that it only took .5% to "bring it home".

Vaping it now :)

I could barely get the caramel note from Black Fire. Sounds good man. I used to mix Black Fire and FA Marsmallow. Tasted just like a campfire toasted marshmallow.

It IS good! But for some reason, in this recipe the Dulce de Leche (or Black Fire) are not 'about the Caramel'. It's more like the result of good alchemy - and there's no way to put my finger on 'what it's about'. (not real sure how to put this concept into words). I'll try cooking - there are tomatoes & basil in Italian food - but a good Italian sauce/gravy doesn't end up tasting like tomatoes or basil - it just ends up (when well made/balanced) "perfect Italian".

I've seen you reference Cuban food - I'd liken the alchemy to something similar to 'anything righteous' marinated in authentic mojo. The end result is never actually about the 'sour orange' in the mojo, it's about the alchemy of the entire (say) bistec empanizado - perfectly Cubano.

OMG, I'm thinking about tostones marinated/dipped in mojo and actually drooling! Now where in the hell am I gonna find green plantains and/or fresh sour orange in the frigid midwest?! GRRRR You did this to me, you know. It was mentioning guava in another thread and saying something about it being 'a Cuban thing'...and ever since I've been sitting here in the freezing snow, thinking about walking around Little Havana, Cuban cafes. and munching on fresh/hot tostones! Now WHERE is that elusive 'Cuban coffee' vape!

Mmmm, marshmallow & Black Fire - yep, I can see that being a great toasted/campfire marshmallow. But will it work with tostones? :::crazy grin::::
