I have wondered how long it would be before this came up. My first 510 was a Janty-DuraC, while very nice the two attys were not enough. The branded Janty was bad, so I had to use the spare until I got a replacement from Parked. Well I didn't know how the warranty worked so it was a few weeks until I got the replacement, actually he sent two. Of those two one was bad and my spare had pretty well burned up from over use. I decided that I needed more batts and attys so I ordered two 510 sets. Batteries are great, attys not so much, just like you I noticed that there was little flavor getting through.
Why the Jantys would have more flavor I don't know, but they do. Why they are so much more costly I don't know except that they have a high failure rate and are guaranteed. My 510's are my second choice when I want to taste a flavor but do much better with a box mod then the manual batts. They still do not have the flavor of the Janty or the 4081 N-Pro box mod. Why the box mod seems to add a little more flavor I am not completely sure. I now carry two box mods, one 4081, one 510 and my Janty with five batts. I alternate from one to the other and top off all at the same time. Odd that a 4081 would use the same amount as a 510 but thats the way it happens. The box mods seem to use less juice and add a little flavor because the manual Janty is the first to run out.
My conclusion is that for flavor it is a Janty or another atty. I also carry a 3ml dropper of PGA and will sometimes add a drop to the carts. It kinda acts as a cleanser while I vape and thins the juice a little making it flow a little easier. The box mods do seem to be a little more flavorful because the battery is very consistent and long lived lasting two days with two boxes going. Without the box mods I would probably have moved on to another atty by now.
