I wonder if other newbie's are having the same experiences?

Like most newbie's I read everything I could looked at videos till I was a bit better informed...or so I thought. I purchased a JACvapour Excel starter kit. it all works fine...the kit does a great job. Seeing how much liquid your using is a real pain! I ended up putting a few drops in to stop the Atty drying out and reducing the life of it. So in hindsight I would probably recommend an eGo-T tank system for new guys as its easy to see what your doing. I ended up purchasing 6 different types of e-juice and tried them to see what they are like. Its impossible to know what your getting when you start unless you know a person vaping already.

I found that all the flavours, Mint, Menthol, Apple, Maple from JACvapour and Liberro were decidely weak to taste! Liberro were very helpful when I called them.

I had some recommendation on this site and got some method crystals from Boots the Chemist to bolster up the menthol and after about 20 the menthol was getting to the taste I was expecting.

Now I have ordered a Provari on the basis that the voltage will up the taste. I am waiting for delivery over the next few days.

Question: Are all flavours weak? ( I am presently using a 12mg - 14mg Nicotine)

I want to use a 6mg Nicotine shortly and even look at zero.

I am Virginia rollup free for 10 days! Hurrah!

What are your thoughts?

Welcome to the forums!!!

I just started vaping in the middle of last week, and I haven't really noticed my flavors being weak in taste. You could try to check out some reviews in the forums and see what sites other people are ordering from. I haven't had enough different e juices to really give any kind of educated reccomendation, but there are tons of people here who have had a lot of experience and continue ordering from a variety of places. Check some of the reviews and try a different company is the approach I would take to this.

Weak flavours is dependent both upon whomever makes the juice (flavouring concentration), the hardware you're using (the atomizer/cartomizer's ability to produce vapor based on its resistance and wicking plus the device's voltage output under load), and the blend of PG and VG (higher VG content mutes flavour and TH), so it really could be anything. The only way to figure out what's what, if you don't know the variables involved (VG percentage of the juice or flavouring strength; resistance of the atomizer/cartomizer, etc.) is to try a different carto/atty, different juice, and/or different device at a higher voltage to see where the weak point is.

I should point out too that it depends on how long you've been vaping for. When I first started juices tasted fine. Then suddenly, a couple of weeks in, they tasted like nothing. Literally like nothing. Vaporized water. I asked around here and was told this is common, as your tastebuds are basically recovering from years of smoke abuse, so you can go through phases of tasting nothing to tasting every little thing and phases in between, and it can go on for a while, though will eventually settle down.

I'm currently shopping around for some e-liquids that I really like and I'm looking for a strong flavor as well. I haven't found one yet (Well, the Root Beer one from the new USA liquids from GatorVapor is really strong in flavor, which is good, even though I don't like root beer).
I have noticed that as my sense of taste and smell returned, the flavors started to taste better, but I'm still on a quest to find something with a strong taste.

I just got a new kit myself and I find the flavor strength is mostly manufacturer dependant. But i do find the subtle flavors become a bit stronger (to a point) the farther away from actually tobacco smoking you get. Chinese based flavors so far in my experience have been alot more subtle, I am able to change flavors easily on an atomizer where as an american flavor required an atomizer soaking and dry burn to clear the flavor.

I just started vaping about a week ago and I'm having the same problem that you are, Tried some prefilled cartos other people raved about but couldn't get anything out of it,The only thing i can completely taste was boosted menthol extreme. I opened my own thread asking about it and people say it's common when you first start out and it can reoccur at any time, You just have to have patience and eventually you start tasting the flavors. When I first started I couldn't taste anything at all and now I can taste a hint of the flavoring when I vape, Another thing that made a difference to me was that when I first started vaping I'd inhale directly into my lungs, I found that if I just sucked vapor into my mouth until the battery cutoff kicked in and then inhale to my lungs then exhale through my nose and mouth I get more flavor out of it.
Well that's my experience out of it,maybe our sense of smell just needs more time to heal. Good luck

Juices vary in the amount of flavor they have. And you have to smell the vapor. Your tongue can only taste sweet, salty, bitter, sour and umami (msg). Everything else is aroma. A cherry vapor should leave an appropriate amount of sweet and sour on the tongue but it is not cherry unless you smell it. Food is the same way.

At the same time, vapor is not food. It is not going to taste as strong as food.

In addition, many have complained of weak flavor from Ego tanks. You could try cartomizers for your favorite juices (Boge are simplest and most popular but there are also more exotic cartos and big handmade tank cartos). And a dirty atomizer can dull flavor.

Liquid -
PG in thin and lets through the most flavor, most nicotine TH, most nicotine irritation
VG is thick and dulls everything PG lets through but makes thicker looking vapor

Most people in the US like blends. Tanks like the thickness of 20-30% VG but should work with thinner 50/50 juices too. And they work with 0-10% VG but may be more likely to leak. Stuffing cartos - I use 20% or less VG. Normal atomizers - whatever you want.

Some very interesting comments from everyone....

I have moved to vaping to completely cut out smoking and hope to find some strong coffee, fruit and menthol/mint flavours.

I have ordered a Provari after seeing that raising the voltage also improves the flavour....I hope it works.

Also members suggested to me going to a 70/30 PG/VG mix might help...so now to find a supplier who does strong flavours in 6mg or lower!

A bunch of my friends vape and they all swear by Mrs.T's Bakery. I ordered a bit of extra juice when I ordered my e-cig from Totally Wicked and it does not compare to the Mrs.T's Bakery that my friends let me try. I'm not in any way putting down the Totally Wicked liquid (I'm using it right now) but the "taste" from Mrs.T's really really surprised me. Hope that helps :>)

I 100% agree.

I'm finding that when I smoke the occasional analog during the day (Still trying to transition to full vaping) that the analogs have MUCH more taste to them than any liquid I have tried.

Maybe some of these juice vendors can take this info and start making super strong flavors for those of us that are just starting out with Ecigs. Throat hit is way overblown I find, the analogs I smoked\smoke are full flavor, yet the throat hit isn't near as hard as some of these juices I'm trying. The TH on some of the juices is almost unbearable...it's ridiculous to me. I think people are so into making it hurt your throat, yet they aren't into the things have strong enough flavoring.

Definitely disappointed in the strength of flavor.

Trapped within my imagination
ahhh new peeps, I feel your pain (smile)..I started vaping a few yrs back had a relapse and have recently returned to vaping..Both times I've had to search out flavs I could taste...The first time I found a lot of e-liquid planets flavors fairly strong as well as electronicstix and Nhaler had juice that had a really good "lung hit" not to be confused with throat hit... This time around (and I've tried a ton of fendors/flavs - said the juice junkie lol)

To be specific, from dead taste bud syndrome point of few lol>> I've found that I can Not taste "bakery flavors" very well at all, such as KickbassVapor's gooey butter cake, choc cake etc..and I so want to be able to taste these lol..
However, their Ice cream flavors (with xtra flav) are really good.. Peppermint ice cream/ blackberry Ice cream as well as pineapple shake(xtra flav).. I also can taste their refreshing cantaloupe and the humming bird nectar (xtra)..

I've also found that Alien Visions- Sweet tart (Omg, this one is dead on accurate and is excellent mixed with other fruity flavs) and Hype are both strong and really good, for me. These are the only two fruit ones I've tried because they were reportedly strong..I've also heard their pinapple pulp and watermelon(watermelon bubble gum taste to some) were good/stonger.

For tobacco I'm liking alien visions gorilla juice (to me, it has an analog "feel" on inhale and light banana on exhale.. My all time fav tobacco is alien visions Gamel, for me it has no dominate flav or after taste..Just an analog "feel" upon inhale as well as exhale..Which makes it an excellent tobacco base to mix anything with..
As we all know taste is so subjective..I have found that most of the vendors I've tried have a very distinct "base aftertaste"-(specific to that vendor) Most of which I don't care for..It's nice to get sample packs however, If you don't care for that vendors "base" you prolly won't care for most of their juices.. I prefer to order 1-2 small bottles from a specific vendor first..In the long run it's worth the s&h

For lighter but able to taste flavs..I'm liking Rawr Vapors pomegranate tea its really nice as well as their strawberry colada (with the "is there" menthol level added) note> their menthol levels get stronger the older the juice gets.

I also keep what I call strong "mixers" on hand> cinnamon( most can not vape stong cinnamon all day without your taste buds deadening to it - best to use as a mixer or strt a few times a day- cinnamon is also provin to help with analog withdrawl)..A good menthol..A good sweet mint.. Chai tea (alien visions)...A ginger-licorice or any other spice ya like..These are excellent to have on hand to increase flav in a juice.

And lastly lol.. Especially to those with variable voltage devices... For me, I've found that a little bit cooler vapor produces better flavor in general..Although some flavs shine at higher voltages...510 attys rock for a great analog/heated vapor feel..But the 801 or 901 produce better flavor, again> for me.. To enhance flavors, switch off flavs at least a few times a day. Brush your teeth/tongue a few times a day and get the best dang e-cig-mod you can afford!

If anyone else has found flavs that they like and are tastable for those of us that have sleepy tastebuds...Throw it in here! lol...Have a good one

I don't have have as much experience as some on vendors juices but have tried Ms. T's bakerys flavors and love them and tasted them very well. However, the most pronounced flavor I've tried would have to be Atomic Cinnicide from Tasty Vapor, tastes like a fireball. Thought I had just gotten a mouthful of juice the first time I tried it the taste is so extreme.
