Hello brothers and sisters. I don't post here much of late, but you are always in my thoughts and prayers.

I happened across this article and remember discussing the subject a while back. Some of you may find it interesting.
Was Jesus Crucified on a Friday?

The whole website is full of great articles - check it out when you have many hours to devote to reading.

Be well,
~A

On the surface, the 3 days before resurrection is confusing. I might be completely off my rocker, and many people would say that I am,, but this is how I view it.....

1) The days were counted as 3 days from death to resurrection, but remember that Scripture states that Jesus was raised on the 3rd day. The days were counted from sundown to sundown. Jesus was murdered before sundown on Friday as it was supposed to be around 3 p.m. When He said, "It is finished....into your Hands I commend My Spirit." So, He was killed on Friday and buried in a borrowed tomb. The Sabbath began at sundown on Friday. So even though we view it as completely Friday, on the Jewish view, it was really two separate days within just a few hours.

2) So from sundown on Friday to sundown on Saturday was the Sabbath. The ladies didn't go to the
tomb in the dark, I would presume. It was too late in the night and they had their own households to take care of. That was 2 days.

3) Then from sundown on the Sabbath (Saturday) to the time Jesus was raised from the dead (HALLELUJAH!!!) was the third day. Jesus WAS RAISED on the 3rd day!!! Scripture didn't stutter...there was no mistake....no contradictions....as always, God was right on target. Hallelujah, He is Risen! How Great is our God! Amein, Amein, Amein!!!

I forgot my question to everyone. This may sound silly, but just in the event that one doesn't know, "why was Jesus laid in a borrowed tomb?"It was because the tomb wasn't going to be needed for very long. Jesus just needed it for a short time...hence the word 'borrowed.' Joseph had burial pre-arrangements! :) This was the tomb of Joseph of Armitheia. (sp?) Joseph was one of the Sanhedren along with Nicodemus. They are the only two members, along with Saul of Taurus that are named in Scripture. Of course Saul became the Apostle Paul. :)
