After receiving the SX350, I wanted to put it into something decent, I toyed with the idea of getting a box made at Shapeways. I did a quick design which ended up costing $25 but the turn around was something like 10 days so I decided to make the housing myself.

I've got access to a fairly decent laser cutter so I decided to cut the profile in steps and then join them together - 24 x 3mm layers of clear Acrylic later, bonded together with Chloroform and filled with car body filler;

I used Vinyl car wrap to cover the main body and I've cut the front panel, top and bottom from 5mm black Acrylic;

This has all been done in less than 24 hours which has pleased me as I'm notoriously lazy.
The only thing that will suck about this build is the fact I have to use the included tactile - I lost a bag with three round actuators:facepalm:

The folks at Yihi take note when it comes to improving their firmware, I wouldn't be surprised if they implement a longer firing time in future updates.
Almost finished the mod, the Epoxy I'm using takes a while to cure. I'm impatient but I want this to be a solid mod - I'll post photos when she's together...

Ingenious..

If ever you want a fast set epoxish set for fast bonding
mix baking soda with super glue in 18secs you have a tight paste bond as hard a steel.

Learned from a guitar maker on you tube, they use it fix bridges and it holds even the small strings on the very edge of the bridge.. Strong stuff..

I use it for positioning my pots and buttons, I still go with heavy duty 1 day set epoxy after positioning.

I've actually got some Zip Kicker for the CA, no glue though!

Going to use Dichloromethane, it's not quite as clean as Chloroform but it doesn't make you fall over unconscious - which is good!
This is not going to be as precise as I wanted it to be but they never are - it's certainly an improvement on the OKR mods that I made.

No stacked batteries - don't like to that anyway!

Thanks; I don't stack batteries either; but I do use 7.5 volts off a common ac/dc adapter because the options are
1.5, 3, 4.5, 6, 7.5 and 12
And out of those SIX godang options the only one an ecig mod might accept turns out to be 7.5 if the mod was designed for stacked battery option.
Pity that a supposed high wattage board won't accept a higher voltage option.

My only pet peeve with the SX350 is the short firing time of 10 seconds. My DNA30 fires for 30 seconds, the way I like to vape! I sent an email to Yihi Cigar to ask if they can provide an firmware upgrade to make the firing time longer. Time will tell.:vapor:

The response from YiHi:

Nice to hear from you.

Now I got what you mean. Yes that we program the that when you fire the button and puff it, it will only last 10 second the the chip will stop by itself. If you need to puff again, you need to press the button again. We can make it last for 30 second, but we will not do that. As you know that DNA30 chip always appear "too hot" after about 15 second. In order to keep the security, we will not do that. Sincerely hope your kindly understanding.

If you want to became the MOD manufactural, whose chip do you prefer?

Any other questions,please feel free to contact with me.

Kind regards!

Cherry
