I would also spend considerable amount of time cutting wood for the fireplace, we kept the heating bill down that way.

Winter was also spent wandering the countryside hunting wabbits, it was cool enough for the rattlesnakes to be hibernating, so the rabbits were plentiful.

Growing up in Southern California, what else would I do but surf? I preferred body surfing to hard boards--a boogie board was a happy medium.

My friends and I would run a go cart down a portion of my street that was closed years before, leaving a nicely paved path free of traffic.

When the roads were covered with snow, preferably packed snow, Hold on to the back bumper of a car and let it pull you down he street.
Word of advice make sure you know where the manhole covers are!
as they are often not covered with snow and somewhat raised, it will send you for a tumble!

After we would build our snow forts as i mentioned yesterday, after all the other snow had melted because we had a big pile of snow some of that would remain. We would fill a couple of milk crates with the snow, go down to the corner and throw snowballs at the cars, thinking i was really freaking out the drivers thinking no one would be throwing snowballs at them because they was no more snow.
yeah yeah i how throwing snowballs are cars is stupid but hey we were kids and it was new jersey
