Hi. I'm new and have been poking around the forums here and haven't seen an answer to a question I have. Let me preface this a little...

With other attempts to quit smoking (patch, gum, lozenge, etc.) I always gained weight. Last time I ballooned to over 200 pounds! Has anyone experienced this side effect? I'm hoping that actually holding the E-cig, 'puffing' on it and seeing the vapor will help curb the desire to reach for food. Am I right?

A lot of people have said they are suddenly starving after stopping analogs. For me, that stopped after the first week. I guess smoking those appetite suppressants for 22 years will do that. I'm eating breakfast for the first time since I was a kid. Some days I have the munchies (today) but it gets better with each day. Just keep some healthy stuff around to curb those munchies and you'll be fine. Also, exercising will be easier with full use of your lungs again :)

I've seen the exact opposite this time around. I have quite over 20+ times and each time the weight gain that occurred sent me running back. With the e-cigs and the right juice though I haven't seen an increase in my eating habits.

In fact, I have noticed that I'll forget about some meals while vaping recently. I attribute this to the new juices I'm getting in that have very strong tastes of "bad" foods. I'm vaping Thin Mint, Smarties, Cinnamon Roll, English Toffee, Creme D' Menthe, even Double Chocolate. They seems to fulfill a, or at least fool my brain's, need for sweets.

I find myself often feeling guilty without actually eating anything LOL. When I do end up eating I find nothing but light healthy foods in the fridge because I haven't purchased any sweets (I don't feel the need to when shopping).

Prior to e-cigs, I quit smoking for 6 months only to snap back to them after a stint in Japan. During that period I gained 40 pounds. Since switching to the e-cig on June 21st I've dropped ~20 and see myself dropping the rest easily. I'm exercising more than ever... which basically breaks down to "I'm exercising". The improved lung function and detox from quitting tobacco has given me quite the energy boost.

I think it's all about the habits you bring to the table, aside from smoking, before switching to e-cigs and after switching.

My advice? Grab up some really strong sweet flavors that will leave the taste of cake/cookie/chocolate in your mouth and fill your fridge with healthy foods. ALWAYS eat a good meal and vape some "sinful" flavor prior to shopping for food. NEVER shop for food while hungry. Get rid of any order-in or delivery phone numbers you have lying around, buying your foods allows you to control what's in it.
