Well guess the vaping gods decided I should stop lurking as somehow I just killed 2 ego-t batteries that I just got a couple of weeks ago. I got 2 of the below batteries in late Dec early Jan to supliment other I already had. Yesterday I got a few extra chargers shown below.
This morning I decided to top all of the 4 batteries off that I had since I will be gone all day tomorrow and won't have my vv box that I use at home. Now the 2 newer bats are stuck with their lights on with no cart or atty in them but will the lights will turn off and the connectors up top will heat up if I put anything in them but they won't fire. Anyone have any ideas? (BTW the chargers are charging my other 1000+mah ego style batteries fine, they are the 420mah version chargers.)

Typical ways to kill Ego batteries

- screwing things in too far - besides depressing the center post of the battery, that can actually short some batteries. Things should only be screwed in exactly enough to connect and work (including chargers) - no further

- using a charger meant for something else (the following chargers will kill a normal Ego - auto 510-T, FS510 (reverse polarity), Blu/Volcano "Volcano"/Trio/Any of L88b (reverse polarity). OR buying random clone Egos (one clone Ego called Ego-J or something is reverse polarity)

- Using cartos/attys under 1.7ohm has the possibility of melting something inside and causing hot button and some melting - dangerous. Many manage to use these things but all mass produced encased Ego style batteries have a chance of being killed by very low ohms

- buying crap random Ego clones. At least buy a known brand, Joye being the real ones, SLB and Smoktech and Boge stuff is probably OK

- using an unstable power supply for charging, or getting a static shock on a computer while charging items on it. I only use separate AC to USB adapters and I look for multiple ones that provide 5v and at least 500mA on each port. Like if it has 4 ports then I was 2000mA aka 2 amps available for the 4 ports.

Have you tried turning them off and then on again?

I use a USB eGo-T clone, and now and again it will freak out if I brush the end of the USB cable against the connector just so. When this happens (it's been 2 or 3 times over the last 2 months), I can hear the carto sizzling even though the button isn't pressed or illuminated. I suspect what's going on is that the IC inside has been thrown into a failure mode by momentarily placing the wrong voltage or polarity on one of the pins in the connector. Pressing the button five times to turn it off, then turning it back on, clears this problem.

wow .... never heard of this happening, and I have several Ego batts, they are all genuine Joye, but I don't know if that has anything to do with the problem you are describing.... not supposed to use non-joye chargers on Joye batteries and vice versa.

Doormouse has offered up some sound explanations as to why this could be .... also did you try emailing the vendor to ask??

They're Chinese knock offs so no surprise that they failed just wasn't expecting it this quick. I opened them up and disconnected the batteries from the boards. If i attach the batteries again the led blinks 5 times then stays on. I'm going to test the components later and see what failed.

sounds like really bad knockoffs ... I have a few knockoffs myself but ironically they are as good or if not better than their genuine counterparts, so maybe I got lucky.

I think the problem with some of the manufacturers who produce knockoffs is their lack of quality control... not enough solid systems in place to weed out the subpar products.... hope you can figure out something to salvage the batteries.

When the white light is blinking only your Ego is dead, as far as using LR Atty's or Cartos you can do so as long as you dont chain vape them and overheat the Mosfet connection, using two Batts at the same time is better and rotating them in between vapes so they dont over heat if using an LR Anything while chain vaping. There are so many different knock offs on the market now that you Must use the charger that came with yours or make sure the charger you buy is ok for your Batt, if not it will fry it as soon as you connect it at times.=, especially the diference between VV Ego chargers and non vv chargers.

Lastly you may want to contact your vendor whom you got yours from and see if your Batts are under warranty because some vendors warrant longer than others and they may replace them for you to keep you as a customer.

I kept the tubes and ends but disposed of the batteries as I discovered they were unprotected. I am currently working making them into 5v passthroughs with the possibly of adding in a USB thumb drive with a micro switch to turn the drive on and off. Still working out the design and waiting on a few parts including a couple of cheap 4GB drives.

I had that happen with an echo-e brand new battery. It was immediately replaced. Things happen.

I've had that happen with 2 Riva batteries when they were old and on their last leg.

I have a feeling it's the soft buttons that seem to get stuck. Why I really prefer the Joye batteries with the hard buttons.
