Hey guys, I've been reading these forums a lot over the past few months but haven't posted yet. I bought a mistic e-cig from a local gas station about 3 or 4 months ago and it has cut down on my smoking a lot. I've never been a heavy smoker and generally only smoked 2-6 cigarettes a day throughout the day, but I'm a college student and I party a lot. Naturally, I smoke a lot more when drinking. Since buying the mistic, I don't smoke analogs during the day anymore, and I try to limit myself to only bumming one or two analogs from friends when out at bars. My issue is that when I first got my mistic, I vaped the first few cartos until there was almost no vapor. Now, I find that I'll use a carto for about two days (again, I'm a pretty light smoker compared to most people here, at least so I think) and then it starts to taste bad. I'm not chain vaping it and I always wait about 5 seconds between puffs so that it doesnt overheat the atty. However, I'll take apart the carto that I'm disposing of due to poor taste, and I find that the filler is still completely soaked, with minimal or almost no burnt spots on the filler. Any idea why I'm getting poor taste when there is clearly a lot more e-juice left? Any advice would be appreciated and I apologize for the long post! Thanks!

Hi and welcome to ECF. Changing taste buds? Vaping is dehydrating and you need to drink water. It sounds like you're using a cartridge with an atty and the atty has to be cleaned on occasion. Also is the hole on the bottom of the cartridge poked open? If not no juice is getting to the atty resulting in a burnt taste.
If it's a cartomizer try cleaning the batt end and carto batt end. Also sometimes the connector on the carto batt end is not making a solid connection with the batt.

I'm waiting to see how this gets answered too, I've had the same problem with a few of mine and I'm just wondering if their duds or if there's a way to fix them. Sometimes they work better if I remove them from the battery and give them a few puffs or stand them up so the juice can work its way down to the coil, then put them back on and they vape better for awhile. Hoping someone else has a better method, lol.

It definitely depends on what system you're using. The mistic is a cartomizer system that combines the cartridge (filler+liquid) and atomizer into one unit. A full cartomizer will generally only last a day, depending on how much you vape, before they will have to be refilled/replaced (depending on if you use juice to refill). If they are brand new cartomizers, which it sounds like they are, and the first few were fine to the last drop, then I would suggest holding the carto by the mouth end, while unscrewed from the battery, and shake it like an old school thermometer. This will help draw the liquid down towards where the heating element is. Even a little char on your filler is going to produce a burnt or bad taste. Storing your e-cig upright will help keep the juice down. Keeping your e-cig lying flat will cause the juice to move to one side of the filler as time goes by, exposing one side of the filler to the heating element, causing a bad taste as well.

Just give it a shake, pretty vigorously, and give it a try. If all else fails move on to a different system. Preferably one that uses bottled juice instead of pre-filled cartomizers.

Happy vaping! :)

How are you first filling them?

Good tips guys, gonna give them all a try, glad brad24 started this thread. Oh, Vapor eye's I just got juice a few weeks ago so I'v just been popping off the the little white cap on the disposable ones and adding a few drops at a time, for the ones with atty's I've removed the filler in the tips and just drop directly onto the atty(seems to work best but I hate dripping on the run) haven't really tried cleaning those ones yet though so I think I need to try that. Because I had these issues with the little cig looking ones I've switched to a silver bullet with tank but I still want to use the smaller pv's I started with.

I don't use attys except for testing juices. Here's a vid for first fill cartos properly. Note when pushing carto down into condom of juice do it very slowly. Cartridges and attys are apain. I began with attys, next Boge cartos, next XL Smok Tech 1.7 XL, next carto + tank and now using clearomizers V2 and loving it. When I was using ST cartos lasting 1 week. When using tank+carto, carto was lasting 2 weeks.

Ok that vid helped, thats pretty much the way I've been doing it with those types of carts. I've got like 5 more orders coming over the next week or so(duel/single coil, different ohm's, DIY juices, a kick and better batteries for the SB) and this forum has been absolutely great for getting info on how to do it right and what to order. I've come to realize that I prefer carto's but I think I'm still gonna order myself some good atties and drip shields to give that style of vaping a proper try. Just super happy to be tobacco free, thank for all the tips!

Oh, and I'm gonna be watching more of Pbusardo vids, mostly watched reviews of mods so far and I need to expand my horizons. So thank you very much Vapoor Eyes!

lol, my daughter calls them stink sticks and is one of the main reasons I started looking for a way to throw them away. Tried quitting countless times and just couldn't stick is out, I was just so tired of ducking outside and trying to hide it from the kid and then after watching my grandmother slowly die of lung cancer-she smoked for 50+years(she actually suggested I look into e-cigs after she saw them on a TV show). It's been 3 months of nothing but research and trying different kits until I found what works for me, now I'm just working on improving the experience and staying off the tobacco. This forum has probably been the biggest help of all!

Cool story and smart kids. Sorry about your Grandma but I know she's looking down very proud of you. Yeah I also quit once for 6 months-white knuckling it all the way and prolly the most miserable period of my life. Yeah I spent well over 200 hrs researching before I even considered buying. DIY'ing after 1 month and it's been great.
Cheers and Best of Luck
