First off, I could swear my Provari is making a noise. When I'm not firing it.
It sounds like a very faint but constant... sizzle or hiss. VERY faint.

Also after I noticed the noise, I went to take a vape, and I got a very small shock on my lip!

Am I doing something wrong?

(Voltage was set on 4.2)

Thanks for any insight.

Try the provari with another head or topper, try the protank on another battery. That should help you decide what the issue is.

Also, often, people get little juice splatters on their tongue that feel link a tiny mini-shock (I think you know that though) but that faint hiss when you are not vaping is very strange indeed - and very worrying. I would stop using both until you get a chance to try them on different heads / batteries.

You can only hear the noise when you activate the button (the sound was created by the transformer). I think the circuit of your device is faulty that it was not cut off, so when you get your clip near the Protank, the hot juice was flied into your clip. You can not have a electric shock by this small device . You should take out the battery from the device and contact your dealer for further help.

I agree with above posters if your mod is firing and your not pressing the button I can only go off the information you are giving but if its making a faint sizzle or hiss then something is wrong. It stands to reason if the mod is malfunctioning it has potential to cause all sorts of problems you would not enjoy.
I would take out a help ticket at provape and most likely they will ask you to send you mod in. https://provape.zendesk.com/entries/21227403-How-do-I-contact-you-

You are not crazy! I have a Protank and a Vamo. Recently I changed heads in it and I got shocked. I put my tongue to the tip and could feel the tingle! Tried on my twist same thing! I threw the head away and didn't have another problem.

Some people say its impossible but think about it. All it really takes is a little peice of wire touching where it shouldn't.. Thats my belief anyway. I just glad I found someone else it happened to. That is why I do not like metal drip tips! All they are is a conductor.

Thanks Cola! You are right - it was the head. Why are people saying you can't get shocked. Metal to electricity to skin = a completed circuit. No biggie - I'm fine and will live to kiss again.

I dont understand why the atty would continue to fire with out the button being pressed This kind of worries me Please be careful us Texans hate to our Arizonian cousins get hurt for no good reason!
Of coarse you can get shocked if threes electricity theirs a chance to get shocked stick your tong on the contacts of a 9V battery now tell me Its my imagination;-) Theres not enough power to hurt you. I dont think its in your head

There was another thread last week about a Protank with an SVD. And it was the same deal: a bad coil head.

Kanger really needs to get these QC issues taken care of.

OP: please head over to the Kanger website, as well as the vendor you purchased those coil heads from and email them about this! 3 reports in less than 2 weeks is scary. There's a bad batch of coil heads out there which need to be pulled off the shelf.

Totally agree with you - I just bought this so I feel they should replace it... and of course if it's happening to others too, there's a real problem. Do you have a link to the actual Kanger site? All I can find are third party sellers...

Also, I ordered the Protank from FastTech - do you think they will care if I got a bad one? They sort of specialize in selling the cheapest of the cheap... Not expecting much in the way of customer support...

Thank you Buzz - I feel the Texas love! You are right - it wasn't enough to hurt - it just took me by surprise is all. :) I'm not hearing the sound with a different tank on it though.

Actually there customer service rocks. They just sent me out a new charger because I told them mine got hot. I shipped theirs to Miami they shipped me mine and refunded me my shipping cost no problem.

It takes a loose connection to cause a shock. A short is just that and the device should pick up the short condition.
A loose or dirty connection can cause power fluctuations, sudden surges.
Your hand is on the Mod - Grounded
Your Lip touched the loose/faulty device tip - Power and your wet lips conduct the current.
I clean the battery threads regularly with a Q-tip and alcohol.

Loose coil head can also add complications and Kanger BCC heads are prone to backing off.
