While it is said to be true that collagen breaks down faster with smoking, most of those lines are genetic. Who even knows if the collagen thing is true or just an advertising ploy to sell lotions, etc. But, those lines show up the same way smile lines do around the eyes and on cheeks. Genetics will dictate which ones show up first. Look at the faces of elderly non-smokers. If all the facial lines came smoking, lips included, they wouldn't have any wrinkles.

All I know is I love my wife with all my heart. She's 4 years older than me but I've been through a lot more than she has. I've been there done that and have the t shirts. She's been protected most of her life, I protect her innocence and I pray to God she doesn't have to go through what I have had.

As we get older and our age shows I've been embracing it. I have no wrinkles yet but Im getting used to people calling me sir. I have some scars and my face isn't as fresh as it was when I was 18, but it's a testement of what I've been through and how I've prevailed.

Those with laugh lines should be proud. It shows you've had a very happy life with lots of laughter and smiles. :)

Right on Butters! :toast: This is the kind of thing we need to celebrate. It is far more deserving of admiration than worshiping the youth culture to the exclusion of all else.

Agreed.

FWIW since I started vaping and making DIY juice, I discovered all the wonderful uses for VG! I use it for freakin' everything now. It attracts moisture from the air so it's great on your skin and hair. I keep a small bottle in the medicine cabinet (refilled from my big, honkin' bottle) and not only use that for whipping up a quick Banana Cream or Captain Black vape, but I put a few drops in my palm and add a little body lotion for my face, hands and arms. It's also good in the shower, adding it to shampoo and rinse.... and if my hair gets dry I rub a few drops in my palms until it's warm then I run my hands through my hair. Can also add it to hair dressing, like Shea Butter creams.

Point is, if you want to put something on your upper lip or face that will draw in moisture, use VG. It's too oily to use by itself unless you don't mind a shine, (takes 15 min or so to be absorbed fully) but will mix into anything. And it moisturizes the skin much better and lasts a lot longer than lotion alone. If I've been washing my hands a lot all day (cooking, cleaning, gardening, whatever), and they get real dry, I'll use a few drops of straight VG to get the skin moisturized again.

I use it so much now, if I ever stopped vaping I'd still buy it!

Haha, has nothing to do with the 20 years of smoking right? Have you tried looking for a clearo or carto with an airier draw? That way you won't have to suck as hard.

Jacob
I second this. I have a very airy draw on my RM2 and I don't even have to create a perfect seal to get a good vape.

Being loved is a tricky business... I was loved many times, even with my below average looks and a serious handicap. That's not the issue. Love comes to you when you stop searching and stop wishing. It's never too late, it's always the right time...

Thanks to all contributors to this thread! I really enjoyed reading it!

There's really only one person I care about being visually pleasing to and that's my Hubby. I'll be 70 in a few months and he's still turned on by what he sees... and, trust me... that IS a matter of "in the eye of the beholder." I wish I saw in the mirror what he sees. ;)

George Carlin.... was especially great in the early 70s but had to love him right up to the end. :)

@Butters - reminded me how darn funny Seinfeld was... though I still believe much of the "stink" about smoking is propaganda, which Seinfeld seemed to be poking at himself... (i.e. as if Kramer could really age 10 years by smoking 72 hours). I miss that show!

Btw, assuming this is you, Susaz, I don't see someone of "below average looks." I was actually quite struck when I saw this picture... it looks like a painting I might see hanging in the Louvre from the 17th or 18th century. You have a very regal, timeless, somewhat exotic and striking appearance that could certainly be described as quite beautiful. Again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.... and sometimes we are the worst judges of ourselves. (Though you certainly sound well grounded with a lot of self-respect so I'm sure nothing I'm saying is new to you.)

On a side note I'm sure we've all experienced meeting someone who strikes us right off the bat as highly attractive, but after he or she opens her mouth and a selfish or unattractive personality is revealed, we see his or her physical appearance quite different, as much less attractive.

Same goes for the opposite... we meet someone (or even see someone on TV in a documentary or special) who is not particularly appealing physically, but once we get to know them, a winning personality rearranges all those features in our mind's eye into something we love to look at and find quite attractive. Which just goes to show the beauty inside counts more than the beauty outside, in the end. Unless you are a model. :D

And finally I know for me, when I look at someone I love my eye goes to their 'flaws' in a loving way. Flaws make us all human, and no one is perfect, so when we see flaws in others (scar, wrinkle, lack of symmetry or whatever), it endears us because we know we aren't perfect either, so we relate to that little bit of 'individuality.' Thank god we don't all look like Barbie & Ken. In fact, very few do.

I agree Tray, plus I am Susaz's only friend on her friendlist and damn proud! She is one of the most honest members I've met. It just stinks that her country makes it so difficult to vape so I feel a lot of empathy there and a stark reminder to me of how important organizations like CASAA are to the future of electronic cigarettes.

:offtopic:

Sorry for the cheerleading, just wanted to throw a little support Susaz's way.

Just FTR, I have only 2 friends on my friend list, and one of them from today, so I had 1, too. :D I don't send invitations as I don't think of it. I figure everyone is my friend unless they prove otherwise. So Susaz is in good company -- as am I. You don't need a large friends list for that. :) However your post is both admirable and touching and I hope you don't mind my saying, I like you very much and consider you my friend. Along with Susaz. List or not.

another thought is to up your water intake. vaping can dehydrate. I know if I dont drink enough liquids I can def see more lines (and pores!) on my face. just a thought.

Also....46. Lines are going to happen. smiling, drinking, making odd faces that you dont realize you do. Wrinkles happen....you are lucky they are just showing :)

I'd bump the water though. you'd be amazed at what it can do!
