Weird taste vaping on an rda

I just bought an rda, and my luck, I don't remember the name of it. Anyway, I have my iTaste clk1280 on 5v and a 1.5 ohm coil. I'm getting a really nasty taste off of it. It's kinda of like metal. I really wanna like this because it's said to be better than a regular tank but I currently hate it. Someone help me?

I gave up and went back to the B&M I bought it from. It WAS, as far as we could tell, defective. They built a new coil and put it on, didn't help. Different drip tip, didn't help. Nothing helped. So, instead of telling me I'd have to buy a new one, which is what I expect. To my surprise, they brought out a brand new one, let me build a coil while they coached me through it, got some max vg out and dripped it in and let me try it out. It was much better. The metal taste was completely gone and the only nastiness I got was when I needed to wet my wick. The rda guy talked to the Mech Mod guy (they all have special attributes from what I gathered thus far). The mech mod guy is a co-owner I believe. Anyway, the rda guy asked the mod guy what to charge me for and, again, to my surprise, he said nothing. I got a brand new RDA, a brand new drip tip and a 30mL bottle of what they call Infection, all for free.

The picture is darker than it should be. The wick and coil aren't that dark. You can almost see the drip tip in the top right. It's crazy out of focus, but it's still kind of see-able. It's a creamy orange colored drip tip.

Cleaning it I believe should help. Some stuff comes with coatings that make it so they don't rust and such. If it doesn't fix the issue, it may be defective.

How familiar are you with building? Did you dry burn the coils before wicking them? That can also leave a pretty nasty taste if you don't...

Daniel, I usually soak my new atties in hot water with a bit of dish washing liquid for some 15 minutes. Afterwards, I scrub them with a small toothbrush and all is good.

I trust that after you clean your RDA, you have a much better experience.

This is my first actually. I did burn the coils for a couple seconds to make sure they were glowing at the same rate and such. Should I have done this for longer? I'm using 28 gauge.

This didn't fix it. The taste comes after I take one puff off of it. After I drip some liquid in, 10 drops, it tastes great the first hit. But then the nasty taste comes back.

As stated in my original post, I don't recall what RDA I got. It's a dual coil build. Two negative posts and one positive.

It says "Atty" on the front

Hi, I had this happen to me with a kracken clone, trust me, not all rdas make things taste this way, in fact get a good rda and you will be in heaven with the flavor!! I know exactly what you are talking about though. Out of the 10 or so rdas I have, this only happened to me ONCE so it's not common, but it does happen. I tried everything to remove that taste from my kracken but couldnt. I just retired it and got a better rda and never had that nasty taste again! You should try the kayfun lite. It's a easy build great flavor and vapor. Taifun is good as well. So is the aqua, the rose, and the orchid. Don't worry most don't have that taste, like I said it's rare. So i would get a different rda. If it's like mine, nothing will remove that taste..I'm not sure exactly what causes it or why it happens but please DON'T let that turn you away from 4das!!! That rarely ever happens!! That's the best advice I can give because I've gone through this myself. Best wishes

Assuming it's 1.5 total, that's a little over 16 and a half watts. I'd guess at this point maybe too much cotton? Or possibly not enough and leaving hot spots in the coils. Can you post a pick of your coils wicked?

I just paid 40 bucks for this thing, I really don't want to retire it and if I have to, I think I'll just shy away from rdas. The chance that this could happen again makes me to sketched out to wanna buy another one.

You have to clean machined attys really well, those things come covered in machine grease and other nasty stuff. Never vape on one right out of the box. Use soap and water and be thorough. I've seen this with stuff I ordered on FastTech as well as stuff I bought locally (probably came from FastTech anyway )
