Okay, so I have been (my whole life, it seems) someone who hated winter and cold. I blamed it on a LOT of things, including being on the skinny side, or on my thyroid once lithium killed mine and I had to use replacement therapy, and had kind of resigned myself to being the kind of person who was going to be wearing a coat if it dropped below 65 degrees.

It never, never, never occurred to me that it might be smoking!!! Not ONE time.

But it dawned on me that it's been pretty darned cold at times, and I also tend to be the one LOWERING the thermostat in the house, because 70 degrees was plenty more than necessary, and my husband has been complaining about getting "chills" and it was so weird... and then it dawned on me that OH, perhaps smoking 3 ppd was affecting my circulation. It seriously never crossed my mind even once.

YET another benefit of vaping shows itself, awesome!!! I'm fine in the house at around 65 degrees especially if I'm doing something active (which I did today.... I cleaned the entire house) and that's when I realized:

I am not constantly cold.
The husband no longer makes statements about my "cold, dead hands" if I'm clambering into bed for the day and trying to get warm.
I turn off the heat a fair amount (I'm going to keep doing it so my husband hopefully gets to experience "the joy" of circulation someday, that plus I'm cheap).
I actually take off my coat and sweater when I enter an indoors area as I get WARM fast on cold days and whenever my husband asks me if I'm cold I have been answering, "No."

This is so cool.... Pun intended. Thank you again, vaping, for another awesome thing happening to my health!!! :)

@Darrel Bernard, LOL indeed I do. It still gets cold in the winter sometimes. There were a few days where the temp got down to 20 degrees overnight. It's the desert, so it de-heats fast.

Also, once I acclimated to the weather here, (from the East Coast) I became one of those "crazy people" who were wearing coats when it got to 64 degrees. At the time I was like, WTF? But my internal thermostat has adjusted and now I DON'T need a coat until it gets frigid.... :) Or whatever passes for that here.

I seriously considered moving to Alaska once, a good friend of mine offered me 70K to come be her social worker, LOL, but then I considered the photoperiod. Also, I think stuff is really expensive in Alaska due to getting it there, so it wouldn't have been the hugest raise of all time. I am glad I DID not go.

@stols001 I feel you. I have a friend that lives in the Houston Tx area. And I am always giving him grief when he says it is cold and it is 50 degrees there. I am a weird confused person anyhow. Born in Colorado Raised in NW Arkansas. Now I live in Minnesota and LOVE the cold and snow. I hate heat. I will even run the ac when it is 60 out.

I’m the same way, I hate the heat. I used to love the cold but the older I get the less I love the cold. Still nothing like breathing in that crisp cold air on a cold winter night with no wind and a sky full of stars. But this cold snap has been a little too brutal for me. I can do without the below zero stuff.

Vaping should affect cold hands and feet the same way as smoking. Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor. That it’s doing so less for you implies it may either get assistance from other chemicals in cigarettes or you’re just getting more cold resistant

Glad for you!

Doesn't work for me though! Freezin' here in south Texas..

Admittedly, it has been COLD!!! It's snowed twice down here of late (ok, the last one a couple days ago was barely a dusting of flakes, but Still!!). 20's and 30's is for Alaska!

Moved down here to get away from the cold, and while I was a 2PAD smoker until 5 years ago, I've slowly been losing my ability to retain heat for the last 15 years.

Of course, I blame the Marines. No, I wasn't a Marine, but I was a Corps Brat and spent 9 of my first 12 years in and around Camp Lejeune NC. Hence I've drank more Dry Cleaning Solvent than anyone ever should. I also include my DDD with that, and my lack of long term memory, even before my brain got scrambled worse by meningitis a year and a half ago.

Can't wait for Feb so it warms back up here!!!!

It was 7 this morning in the middle of NC. Wheres that global warming now? Just to put my vote in, I HATE cold.
You’re sitting in it. This here is the arctic weather that used to be trapped in the Arctic by the ice cap we don’t have any more. This is the quantum effect . The layer of instability between stable states. No one knows what the next stable state will be. It’s entirely possible it won’t support human life. The weather from now on is going to be weird, less predictable and very possibly a lot more violent. This is what we bought ourselves.

Meh, I still maintain that it's hard to predict GLOBAL WARNING when the weather man still can't quite get it right.

I also find it really presumptuous of human beings to think they can affect the earth to that degree, but I suppose anything's possible. "Climate change" is such a nebulous concept that really, it's quite useful for the "tax the weather" folks, since it now means "Anything is terrifying!!!!!!!" The climate changes multiple times a day. :)

I'm not saying that we shouldn't do better with environmental issues, we should, I'm just not one to let "climate change" terrify me when in my youth I was worried about "the upcoming Ice age... any second now!"

I mean, the DINOSAURS died, and I don't think they drove cars, burned fossil fuels and etc, it was just some type of epic event. Once "whatever" happens (nuclear winter, massive volcanic explosion at Yellowstone, etc., etc.,) well I'll worry about things then. When the earth has had enough of us, plague/famine/whatever will wipe us out or shrink our population down to a manageable size for earth's resources.

JMO as always. :)

No one knows afaik. No one really knows what will happen. There are short term predictions of a 4 degree increase in world average temperature but whether that is a stable state or not is unknown. We won’t know till we get there.

So.... if no one actually knows what will happen.... and these are "predictions" I really would prefer the focus be on environmental issues generally, and that the burden of that be placed on some of the larger players who are doing it.... And that we focus on more than just the weather....

And also we human beings are odd. The ones preaching about climate change initially were often the folks who use the MOST resources.... I don't fly on a special gold OR presidential plane.... I don't travel around to receive awards, etc. To be fair, I wouldn't enjoy a life without some of my electrical comforts, certainly.

With that said, the Amish I've met seem very happy. I bet if anyone survives, it could possibly be them. They seem to have a nice balance and sustainability.... and they really MUST be happy since they send their kids out into the "modern" world to check it out and many of them return....

And, Kirstie Alley... that movie...:lol: I forget who her romantic hero was, but I'm rooting for the Amish, they can get the job done.
