I think this is bad news for e-cigs. The link could make getting any new nicotine delivery devices approved much harder. Quite frankly I am getting more and more concerned because I have been able to completely quit analogs but now I vape more nicotine than I ever smoked (assuming the 1mg/cig and high nicotine absorption from vaping).

I really hope that someone gets enough money and organization to do some real trials on these. It's a little scary just blindly using these e-cigs.

I'm still convinced it's better than smoking but I'd love to see some true testing.

Nonetheless, it is much less dangerous than cigarettes and is therefore used in a wide variety of smoking cessation products that allow addicts to satisfy a craving for the chemical without smoking

that's the important bit. We all know that e-cigs aren't 100% safe as no nicotine delivery system is, It's just probably a safer means of delivery but not without risk.

"The results raise the prospect that nicotine, the addictive chemical in tobacco, may be more carcinogenic than had previously been appreciated."

It all the searches and reading I've done, nobody has ever claimed that nicotine is a carcinogen. I think that quote is more a result of sloppy reporting than any study.

It doesn't mean that nicotine doesn't have risks (like all good drugs) but at least it's not known to be a carcinogen.

"Dr Teh emphasized that smokers should not stop their attempts to give up. “There is no doubt about the harmful effects of smoking, so smokers should make every effort to quit.”

Sooooo, this really isn't new news for us is it?
We understand that nicotine isn't good for us, but we can get it in many forms.
The main point is that NRT's are still safer than cigarettes.
Until there is actual/factual evidence that e-cigs are just as deadly as cigarettes I will bite the bullet, until then I'm still using my e-cig.

I saw this today on CNN. The word "more" really stuck out.
It won't matter if it is true or not the FDA will jump on this as a justification to ban. The whole thing reeks to me. How come it is now, when E-cigs are an issue that they decide anything by mouth is suspect?
This ought to please the heck of Niccorette.
