Its viral media.
This is what it takes.
It doesnt have to be true at all or even likely.
It just has to be on the front page.

I couldn't agree more with the general sentiment (but I of course disagree about that it doesn't have to be true).

But, it doesn't matter if the man that we all hate who shall not be named is naked covered in peanut butter dancing around a pentagram; if it's not on the front page of Google's results for "e-cigarettes" (or a few other variants of the phrase), no one's going to care because they're not going to dig that deep for information. The percentage of people that make it to page 2 for any Google search is less than 20%. Repeating the most important information in the media over and over again so it stays on top is one of the only things that's going to help this industry stay alive in the US.

1. Study the opposition.
2. Take note of what tactics they're using that work.
3. Duplicate their process (in volume!) and consistently hit harder than they do.

This is an information war and we need to treat it like one. Simple as that.

Commit Nicotine Lozenges (re-written what is on the label)

"if you are under 18 years of age, ask a doctor before use "

So IF the FDA does regulate the ecig as an NRT, it CAN be sold to Children with parents/doctors permission. Hmmmm..... Interesting.

Further down though:

"Warnings:

* not for sale to those under 18 years of age
* proof of age required"

So which is it?

This is just so silly.

However, on the other hand, there are children that smoke. I wonder what the law is for parents who have children under 18 that want them to quit smoking? Are they allowed to purchase these things for them to help them?

I have the same question. To me, as a responsible parent, if my child is smoking cigarettes and would like to find an alternative for long term use or for quitting, I should be able to help them without "contributing to a minor" - Which is a stupid rule if you are contributing to your own kids. I can totally understand other peoples kids... but my own?

I am certainly not sending my 18 year old daughter off to college having never had a cold frosty beverage before. I went to college with a bunch of those girls and they were passed out drunk in bushes... made stupid choices in where to "sleep" that night and so on.

Hi bud:
You know that the truth is optional to those with political pull or money

I am still a gun rights advocate so i have been in this fight before for something i believe in for a long time and it's FRUSTRATING what these people say and the press NEVER calls them on the carpet for there lies and facts that don't add up no matter how outrageous there claims

And truth and retractions are on page 300 or broad cast at 3:00 AM for 30 seconds sad but fact

But don't give up nobody can stand against a person that knows there right and just keeps on fighting no matter what the odds

Actually, it's not illegal (in this state anyway) to let your child who is a minor have alcohol as long as they stay in your house (not sure what the lower age limit is on this). So you can let them have a few beers or whatever, as long as they don't go anywhere. You can't let any of their friends come over and let them have alcohol though. It's only for your child.

I just wondered if the same rules applied to the "stop smoking" things out there.

Very interesting. I know being a neighbor, Ohio has always had much laxer laws. According to the generation above me, Indiana went 21 on booze WAY before Ohio did so they would drive across the border.

Plus you guys have those fabulous drive through liquor stores eh?

Either way, I am going to find some time to do a little research on the "stop smoking" things... see if it applies as well. It should be pretty difficult to find a straight answer. When/If I find anything, I will let you know. :)

Ha yeah, we do have places where you can drive through to get full bottles/cans of liquor or beer.

You do that in the peoples republic of California and you will be charged with
contributing to the delinquency of a minor, child abuse, child endangerment
and so on

For your own kid? I didn't figure that it would be the same in all states, strange how that works. I know that states should have the right to decide what goes on in their state, but it just seems like everything would be much more simple if things were the same everywhere. It's like there are so many different rules in each state that it's like they are all different countries sometimes.

No one would never stoop as low as ASH or the FDA to make a terrible lie into a viral fact for the masses, that would be shameful. We are above all that.

Its this thinking that gives the FDA and ASH a leg up.

It feels wrong to justify outright lies and misinformation for the public well being.

But what can one do?

I do beleive that to Fight fire with fire if thats what it takes, may be the only option now that we are up againt viral media campaigns.

We can do it! We just have to be smarter and just a tiny bit better at it.
