Angus was the referee during heated exchanges back then. He ran the penalty box, so to speak. I'll have to say that he was diligent in his moderator role and kept the peace quite well with a minimum of interference. He knew when to step in and stop the antics and when to let heated discussions just play out by themselves. He's a fair moderator who's only strict when it's clearly needed.
I was the forum manager. Initially I was the guy who played around with the forum software settings (not coding) to make sure things worked the way they were supposed to, and when members reported problems I did what I could to fix it, or sent the issue up the chain of command until it got fixed.
Back then, the forums were a LOT busier, and even with a larger moderator staff, we were all overworked, so my duties included overseeing the moderators, and I stepped in to play the bad guy so they wouldn’t take too much flak from unhappy people. Some people appreciated it, and others hated my guts.
Now I’m just helping out where I can, and enjoying the forums now that I am getting back to
vaping after some years off the wagon. I’ll let classwife (the boss) be the bad guy this time around, lol.
