Someone gave me a Kanger Protank 2 mini today. Went to put it together and noticed it had a different base to it (you know, that weird dark chrome piece it usually comes with that you screw the coil into). I thought, "Oh, maybe they FINALLY made that piece match the rest of the tank".

Didn't fit, so I looked at the label and my Protank Mini 2 came with the Evod Glass base.

Not sure what they are doing up there at Kanger, but seriously. lol

If anyone knows a credible site where I can get a Protank Mini 2 base at, that would be great. Just figured I share my "surprise" of the day. It was a gift, so instead of hassling the person I got it from I'll just buy a replacement base. I imagine they are pretty cheap.

Yea, I've gotten weird coil heads from Kanger before, but a base that doesn't go to the tank is a bit out there. Wish I could make it work, but the threads don't even touch when the coil is in place.

Marc411, I think I'll take you up on that! I'm going to the B&M tomorrow to see if I have any luck there, if not I'll take it off your hands

I now use areotank bases on all of my mini protanks. So much better. Allows air control and will not leak onto battery. Looks a little weird though.

You won't be disappointed if you choose the Aerotank - Air Flow Control base that is now available. You can find them for around $5 and they fit both Protanks and mini Protanks. They bring a new life to the beloved Protanks. :thumb:

Yeah man. I've been having issues with the heads I've been buying. Hit or miss.

We also had issues with a 5-pack of bad aftermarket Protank coils purchased last winter. They had a burnt taste right out of the box. I took one apart and identified the problem as poorly seated coils. Too low. I posted a thread with some comparative pictures you may find interesting. It may have been a bad factory run . The heads we get with the original Protanks have always performed acceptably and other aftermarket PT heads we have purchased since have not had this problem.
