So, I went in for my yearly physical today. My first since starting ecigs. My blood pressure, which had been borderline high for years, is now normal. What I really wanted to share though was my doctor's interest in ecigs. It was obvious he didn't know anything about them so I explained how it works. He wanted to know where people could purchase them so he could recommend them to his other smoking patients! He said he would like to see me eventually stop vaping but was extremely happy that I was no longer smoking. I emailed him a link to this site so he could get more info. Hopefully, he will visit this fine site, learn more about vaping, then tell his patients that ecigs may be a viable way to successfully quit smoking.

Hi Greg good to hear.
I also went in recently for a upper resp infection , doc asked you smoke and i replied i vape and explained to him about it.
He then asked me to take deep breath as he listened and right away said i need chest x-ray as i sounded bad.
They took chest x-ray and he went over it with me and said he could tell i was a smoker but there was no severe damage at this point.
He also stated that my lungs will eventually get better over time .
I did a type of office vape on a machine with liquid medicine to help and then he put me on some meds.
Smoke for almost 40 years at 2 packs a day and think now what the heck was i doing to myself .
Been off the analogs since May of 2011.
Sorry for the long story in your thread here but there is hope for me and others as i feel its never to late to quit.

It's tricky for Doctors to recommend anything that isn't approved by the medical industry under threat of loosing their licenses. So don't be discouraged if your Doctor doesn't come right out with an endorsement or only lightly recommends you to quit everything that might not be absolutely necessary for health. Just remember that they deal with people daily who think that fortune is just a law suit away.

Vape On!!! :)

It sucks that people are like that so you make a very good point! However, even untested most of us are quite sure that vaping provides some level of harm reduction compared to analogs. Maybe, if a doctor is truly concerned with a patients health, they will at least mention that an alternative to analogs does exist (other than patches, gum, chantix, etc) without recommending specifically that they give it a try. Just leave it up to the patient to research and decide. Most people I talk to about ecigs have no idea what they are.
