My Surgeon approved my use of my E-cig!

I was in the office the other day for a tummy tuck consultation. The doctor noticed the cig pack in my purse (I'm down to less than 15 a day - from 3 packs!) Anyway, he said he wouldn't do surgery as long as I smoked.

I THEN pulled out my e-cig. He had heard of these but never actually seen one. I, of course, had to demonstrate (after I asked if it was ok to do so) and he was so impressed, he said if I used that and stopped the analogs, he would be MORE than happy to do my surgery! AND he would leave a note on my chart that I could use it in the hosp (provided they didn't have a problem with it, and he said once he made that sort of note, he didn't expect them to have ANY problem with me using it!!!!)

He was SO impressed. He explained to his nurse that the e-cig OBVIOUSLY helped with the hand to mouth habit and that's where the nicotine patch FAILED!!!! Here was a doctor telling me WHY patches don't work!!!!! He also said the FDA was NUTS! (Yes, we discussed that too).

He said it wasn't the nicotine that was the problem but the tar and other things that would interfere with my recovery....and he said considering what I was about to spend, he wouldn't want me to see it go to waste. I KNEW I'd found the right surgeon!!!

I am SO thrilled!!! I gave him the forum addy and he said he'll print out some info and give it to his other patients.

I think on my next order, I'll request a pile of business cards to give him to hand out in his office. He said even if I went back to analogs after, that would be my decision, but as long as I was under his care, he wanted me to use my ecig.

That's one doctor I with happily quit smoking for.....especially now that I can do it!

Because he's a guy who cares about his patients and not the the idolized $$. That's the last thing the FDA wants and therefore they select only the greediest of f**ktards for their employ.

I know my doc is going to be thrilled that I quit smoking. He's been after me for a couple of years now, since I became diabetic. Now he'll just push me to exercise more. Well, more than what I already do... because I don't.

That's great that you've had that experience and can move forward with your surgery!

I watched an episode of Dr. 90210 once years ago where he was doing some free surgeries for low income people who needed them. He told one woman that he absolutely could not do the surgery if she didn't quit smoking. She lied and said she did. In the middle of her surgery she went into respiratory distress and her body started hacking. It was scary to watch!

Finally I think we're seeing a lot more voices of reason coming out of the health care providers, they seem to be getting it!! It's not the nicotine, at least not what a person would call over-medicating with a PV. Great to hear it in black and white!
