Can any veterans tell me what effect e-smoking has on your teeth?? They say that nicotine stains them but is it not mostly the rest of the crap that does this??

I am scheduled for a clean and a polish in the next few weeks by which time I will be e-smoking, should I bother going??

yes go and get them polished to get rid of the accumulation of stains from past smoking...

some people report improvement in teeth by using ecigs...less stains,yellowing etc...

but ecigs are not miracle workers-using them doesnt mean youll have a colgate smile....lots of things stain teeth daily...tea,coffee and so on...

My thoughts on this (not based on anything other than personal experience). I think that you're right -"nicotine" stained fingers/teeth are probably stained because of the tar and other filth produced by burning tobacco. As you know you aren't burning anything with an e-cig (oh, all right - money, perhaps...) . It's worth a search on the forum on "teeth"- I read somewhere that e-smoking creates an alkaline oral environment which is better for the old toothypegs. I know that I had my teeth scraped a month ago (around the time I started e-smoking) and, not having smoked tobacco since, my teeth feel MUCH cleaner. My tongue is also gradually defurring but because I smoked a pipe this will probably take ages to complete.

I think dc2k08 meant it was a good alternative to whitening. The cleaning should be done, no matter what, is my opinion (and I have no confilct of interest here, as I am not a dentist or a dental hygienist).
