I didn't read the discussion yet (but will later) I don't think there will be advances (official products) because of the Deeming thing BUT people will find a way! Advances will be "homebrewed" and there will be many... Rock On (you can't stop us!!!) Those who have been at this much longer than me remember "modified" flashlights ( were the term mod came form) I hope to be one of the people on the front lines (very handy and creative)
The thing is, there is a rather large vaping market in the EU, UK and other parts of the world. So even though China could lose a lot of business from the USA, they still have a rather large market in the rest of the world to incentivize them to keep innovating.
Although some may see this as funny or even fear mongering, I have to say this is a good a theory as to the future as any. The virus won't kill humanity, but humans could kill humanity under the guise of saving humanity.

One time I played my stereo really loud for an hour... Eagles, Fleetwood Mac ect and nobody seemed to mind... played two Black Sabbath songs and got shut down immediately!

I'd vape it to, but like I don't think it counts because I am semi-suicidal as it is.
However if they DO make it I may just get some for that (hopefully just right moment) where I could shove it in my vape in the Nursing Home after I get the big A, only I would rebrand it "the Kevorkian."

Apologies for not being able to post much,pops under the weather so im kinda busy making sure his temperature is right and cooking him some good ol' hearty meals (today i made moussaka,all from scratch)
Anyway,was thinking about this topic,how would you guys feel if in like 20 years or so there would be a way to vape without having to actually use a device?
Maybe some sort of in the mouth subcutaneos thingymabob or even maybe just a small cap on a tooth?
would you guys miss the actual use of a mod?
I know i would,that certain satisfaction of picking up the device,pushing the button and inhaling is something that i dont think i could give up hehe

If I absolutely had to, I could get by with nicotine delivery sans device. But that would take the joy out of it, for sure. Selecting which gear to use, admiring it all day, are a big part of vaping for me. I’m already going to lose the pleasure of shopping for them, I don’t want to lose the pleasure of using the ones I’ve acquired.
The physical "ritual" of vaping is very important to help replace the cigarette habit. Even the inhale/exhale is enjoyable (and the flavor... orally it can taste harsh and cause more nausea)

In twenty years there will be a few people vaping and they will be considered old and weird. They will be forced to vape in dedicated vape zones and small children will point at them and cry.
All the other humans with addictive tendencies will be eating cherry flavoured pyschoactive hula hoops and complaining that the lemon flavoured ones should never have been banned.

My prognostication is current generation wick and heating coil technology will be replaced by piezoelectric vaporization then heated to a user-selected temperature. And then, with all conceivable health risks vanquished, today’s puritans will invent new reasons that smokers should not switch.
P.S. Bonus points if the user can dial in both vape volume and a visibility range between stealth and cloud.

Luckily however, those not vaping nor having any addictive tendencies will be the only ones eating Soylent Green.
In 20 years I will have still missed out on all the latest and greatest... I'll still be vaping the same DIY eLiquid on a Provari/Kayfun Lite V2+ 
Small cig like device, mostly juice container and atomizer, small small new-tech battery that lasts all day.
So instead of a pack of smokes, you'd have a stick-of-vape that lasts all day or nearly so (however much you can fit in a 100mm sized stick). Can be recharged, quickly, like a super capacitor. You carry a few around.
Oh, and the juice and atomizer will be new-tech refined, and although it MAY have nic in it or not, it could also have other approved things that enhance memory, or endorphins, and/or counteract the negative effects of nicotine on the cardiovascular system.
And who knows, let's add some harmless antivirals to it too, to give lung protection and reduce flu and CoVID-19 deaths each year!
But the antz won't ever let it be reasonably safe or "good for you". So I'm just dreaming.
