A cartomizer is an atty and a cartridge all in one piece. So....you'd have to replace the atty and cartridge with the cartomizer. Cartomizers (cartos) are made to be "disposable" so they are cheaper than attys (they cost about $8 or $9 dollars for a box of 5 which is the price of one atomizer.) Anyway, even though they're disposable, they can be refilled several times.....many times. There are lots of youtube videos about how to fill them, but basically you pop the little white cap off, drop about 20-25 drops onto the filler (avoid the center hole), put the cap back on, screw it onto the battery, and vape away. They hold more than a cartridge, so they will last longer between refills. When you're ready to refill them, you just add maybe 10-12 drops and go again. They eventually wear out (usually faster than an atty does) then you just toss them. Many people prefer cartos because they hold more juice and it's less refilling. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-videos-newbies-particular-broke-newbies.html This is a good video that should help you understand the differences and also how to fill them.

If you buy the soft cap carto's you just pop off the white cap and drip juice into it to fill it. They last quite a while before they stop working, but they start tasting nasty after using them for a week or so. They can be cleaned but I just tossed them rather than mess with it. You can't just pop off the cartridge part because they're not meant to be taken apart.
I tried carto's and they're good for on the go vaping because they hold quite a bit of juice, lots more than a cartridge. A box of 5 carto's costs about the same as an atty and those 5 will last about a month from my experience. I just tossed them when they started tasting bad because they're not expensive. My suggestion would be to buy a box next time you order from your hardware vendor. Give them a shot and see what you think. I'm sure others will disagree with me on throwing my funky tasting carto's away, but that is my preference.

Carto is a bit more work to refill (may need a flexible or blunt syringe, or forcing juice in with the condom) but has to be refilled less often. i think a carto holds 2x or more than a cart. Cartos I have tried give big hits easier than my carts but may have a looser draw. There are a couple of different makers of cartos for popular PV brands, mainly 510 and KR808D-1. Some cartos are hot on the lips and some aren't, some have a really loose drag and some have a more cart-like drag, so don't judge cartos by one brand. Some people prefer KR808D-1 cartos to 510 ones and use an adapter to let them use the KR8 cartos. I've only tried KR8 ones and I prefer the Vapor4Life Coolcarts which I think are made by Boge. Cartos may be noisier than carts (you can get crackling gurgling sound).

You should try them and see if you like them. The flavor is pretty nice.

After having used both, I can say I definitely prefer cartos over carts. Main reason being, they last so much longer, and IMO are a lot less hassle to deal with. I just pull the white cap off, fill up and pop a drip tip on. They do gurgle more, but it's not annoying, and when it stops gurgling, it gives me a clue that it might be time for a refill.

Best Wishes

The biggest advantage is that you get a fresh atty whenever you pop in a new carto. I never really like the atty anyway. If you use an atty, you must drip to get the best of it. There are two types of cartos, you just need to try out the filler cartos and the fillerless which is the CE2.

For both of em there are pros and cons. The CE2 will leak at the top but not by much, the filler carto is quite robust when it comes to leaking but doesn't produce good vapor and flavor as compared to the CE2s. However, CE2s can be used for many more times compared to the filler cartos as the wick doesn't degrade and the atty can be cleaned with dry burns. Filler cartos will degrade after some time and when the time comes, you must throw them away.

The next step is to fiddle with the resistance of the carto, you will learn that certain resistance works best with certain juice to provide good TH. Again for that, you just have to try what works best for you.

These are my CE2s and filler cartos with syringe tube mod. They make filling and cleaning easier, no syringe required just dripper bottles. I don't use filler cartos anymore but this pic will give you some idea of what to do...i'll be more than happy to answer any questions...cheers and happy vaping

i have a few issues with cartos.
1) they don't last long before you have to throw them away. one of the reasons i like the concept of ecigs is that there are no butts to throw away as opposed to analogs so easier on the conscience for ecological reasons.
2) cost. i am not/have not been a pack a day smoker. i am a heavy vaper and i found with cartos that i get a persistent burnt taste after 2 days. i later found on this forum that that is because the filler starts getting burnt no matter how wet you keep it. hence i pay almost as much for a carto as i do for a pack of analogs here in South Africa so i'm not really saving that much.

so for now i'll stick to my ego, 510 atty and metal drip tip.
