What am I doing wrong? Keep experiencing battery hot spots.

Hey,

It's been about 3 months now that I've began rebuilding on my own, and I experienced one issue with new builds. While I've made some clean builds, the bad ones I out number the good. Not sure why, and how to go about fixing them. Anytime I take a pull of my mod, longer than 5 seconds, I get a hot spot on my mod/battery. The problem happens when I take continuous pulls. Has anyone experienced this problem... and if so, how were you able fix the problem. Obviously I'm doing something wrong but can't figure it out.

I'm building on:

- Tobh Atomizer
- Turtle Ship v2 by hcigar
- A1 Kanthal 24g
- 100% Organic Cotton
- Sony 18650 2600mah VCT5

Many thanks for reading.

a. The term hot spot refers to a part of a coil that heats up faster or hotter than the rest of the coil. A hot battery is just a hot battery..

b. Is your battery getting hot? or is it just the mod?

c. What are you reading your resistance on? If it's not as accurate as you expect it could be closer to .2 which is above the continuous rating of the vtc5.. From what I've read you might get warm at that point, but it shouldn't make things hot. It could be possible that the threads on your clone aren't perfect, any burrs or small spaces could cause arcs that would create heat.

It could be something not making correct contact somewhere.. it could be a thread that has something in it.. etc at that resistance little things can make a big difference.

I had a similar issue with my hcigar turtleship V2 and awt 35a batteries, what I noticed was there was a small tear in the battery shrink wrap towards the top and it was making contact with the side tube causing a hot spot. I covered that area of the battery with some tape and haven't had that issue since
