I've been vaping for about seven months now. I started with your typical cigarette type models and moved upwards to currently a Lavatube. I'm currently at 5.5 as I like strong flavor and a good throat hit. I currently use one of the large tanks as it lasts me through most of the day before needing to refill. However, one big problem I keep coming across is that it the cartomizer seems to dry out, even with a nearly full tank. I don't seem to get the so-called "dry hit" where it tastes burnt, it just doesn't vape anything, or very little. I usually have the press the button a few times before I hear the liquid vaporizing, and eventually have to re-soak the carto to get good performance again. Maybe I'm using it too much, too fast? If so, is there something out there that would be better suited for me?

It seems that the juice isn't flowing adequately, so either it should be thinned a bit or another hole should be put into the carto. If you have a thinner juice you can test this out. If it doesn't help it might be a batch of cartos with the filler packed a little too tight, and another hole might help that. Good luck!

All I use are Cartomizer tanks my friend and may i ask what the PG/VG ratio on the E-liquid you use is? For me anything less than 70% PG wont "auto wick" as i vape because its too thick and i have to slurp it up between dry spells. All my 70/30 PG/VG liquids never need to be primed (and i use pretty small holes too). The best Tank Cartomizer ive ever experienced are ikenvape's 801 fusions and a lot of people are swearing by those now :) hope any of that helps

I have a mini lavatube and I use a carto tank. I've had the same problems with it not firing everytime. It's especially bad when the center pin has juice on it. I usually clean the juice off and it works much better. I also remember hearing that the lavatubes have center pin issues, but don't quote me on that.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I typically use e-juice from Volcano Cigs (Volcano Cigs | Volcano Electronic Cigarette | Volcano Electronic Cigarettes), specifically the Waikiki Watermelon I do not know the ratio they use. What can typically be used to thin e-juices? And what is the best way to puncture another hole into a cart?

I did think about the button one time, but when it dries I do get a very small amount of vape and it completely reverts to normal when I drip more juice into the cart.

If you are not seeing a little bubble coming out of one of the carto holes every few drags then the holes aren't big enough. Most cartos only need 2 holes.

Also, with some tanks when you fill them you need to turn the tank almost upside down with the carto tool just plugging the top cap hole (so your juice won't spill out) so that the air bubble in the tank is over a carto hole before you push the carto all the way up. I don't know why this works but it does.

You can thin ejuice with distilled water or alcohol but alcohol will increase throat hit, which may be a good thing.

If you need to punch another hole or enlarge a hole in your carto, just pull out the carto and catch the juice in a container of some sort and then punch another hole, refill with juice and you're good to go.

I use 50/50 juice and don't have that problem on my lavatube v1 with the tube tank but I do notice the fire button will stick sometimes and nothing happens. If it is not vaping I'll sometimes take a few puffs without power to get more juice in the cart. I hope yours isn't broken cause my experience with their customer service has not been the best.

Sounds like misfiring. Regardless of the juice in the cart, if u dont her crackle burp pop, it aint firing, not crackle when juice runs out tho. Atleast a Shhhhhh kaput! Connect ur device to a voltmeter and hit the fire button with 3 sec gaps. You'll be able to figure out whatsup with it. If it aint the LT, swap the carto and see.

In my experience when a carto is running dry I get burned hits which are immediately noticeable. The loud pop, sizzle, sizzle, pop, becomes a quieter sizzle, with an occasional low pop. To fix that I make the two carto holes bigger. I'm using Boge single coil carts.

When nothing happens when I hit the button, the cart is not getting power. This for me has always been because the battery pin is not making contact with the carto. Easy to fix by slightly pulling out the pin in the LT, or the end of the carto.

You seem to be getting a different combination of the symptoms I have seen making it hard to diagnose. Maybe try to address one problem at a time from the advice in this thread. IMO, it is one or the other - dry carto or battery connection. Hmm, or maybe a combination of the two? Good luck with it!

did u check what type of atty u using? what ohms u at? coz if ure vaping 5.5 in a single coil 1.5 then ull get dry hits... if its 2.4 or above then prolly u need to soak the cartomizer more... or lower the voltage to find ur sweet spot... not all atty perfoms the same at the voltage u wanted to... u need to fiddle it :)... hope that helps...
