My smok Tech EGO arrived today. On the way home I did not stop and buy any stink sticks. :D
I charged the batteries, only took a couple minutes.. Loaded my juice.. but each battery will not last 5 minutes. The normal time it takes me to smoke. Please tell me I am charging it wrong or something. I really, really do not want to go buy any smokes.

Hi TS... CSH had some pretty spot on advice. Just an FYI - when charging batteries (especially if you think something is "off" about them) is something that you should use some caution with. When I charge ecigs, I typically put the battery into a big metal kitchen pot. I would also recommend not charging plugged into your PC until you know if there is a problem or not.

Battery problems when charging are very rare... just some advice from a safety nerd here.

Hope it's just undercharged -- if you can't get it to work contact the vendor. It will most likely have a warranty.

They should come with a near full charge. What exactly are you experiencing?? When it shuts off due to charge, it should blink several times. Is it? Or are you just not getting vapor? That could be a connection issue between the carto and battery.

My Smoketech ego was crap, as were others. One of the problems was that the center post would get pushed down when overtightening the carto. It would then not connect to the carto, nor the charger. The solution is having to gently pull the center post of the battery up a small amount, but it'll keep doing it until broken. If this is the case, order a Good ego today.

I do know that for brand new Riva and Kgo it is recommended to charge at least 8hrs, use for 20 min and then charge another hour. Then it should perform at peak performance. At least that's what is says on my Kgo manual, and also something I watched from youtube. After that it takes me 1-3hrs to charge mine. I could be wrong since I'm kinda new to these stuff, but I'm guessing that method also applies for any brand new Ego devices?

Well, he did say he charged it for a couple of minutes. My batteries usually take a couple of hours to charge. Just fully charge it and vape away. (fully charge means the charger isn't blinking anymore and has a steady light - most are green)

OK. I was reading it that " it only took a couple of minutes" to get it Fully Charged. Assuming he got it fully charged, he might then be having other issues.

The systems says when the charger light red is red, it is charging. When it turns green it is fully. It takes a couple of minutes for it to turn green. This sucks, I want it to work so bad....

OK, it turned green, good to go. After your 5 minutes of vaping, what does it do, does it blink several times and shut off?? Or do you just not get anymore vapor?

When you use the batteries and they shut down what it happening with the battery LED? When you get that last working hit off the battery is the LED flashing several times?

If this what's going on try going though the cycle several times. But keep an eye on the batteries while they are going though this funky phase too. I had something similar happen to a JoyeTech eGo battery - only once. It worked for a full discharge cycle but on the charger it went from red to green in less than a minute. Off the charger? Dead in a couple minutes. Back on the charger? Same thing. After about 5 cycles like that "something" kicked in and the battery completed a full (several hour) charge cycle. It never happened again with that battery and I never did figure out why.

after just a few minutes the button blinks and the unit will no longer work. I put it on the charger, the light turns red, after a few minutes it will turn green. If I leave it on the charger, the button will flash 20 times. I could not find any where what the 20 blinks mean.
thanks for all of your help. So far I like the unit when it works.

    Hello,
You may want to request a exchange or refund from the supplier for a new charger and or batteries. I've had issues with Ego chargers, meaning more than 1 :D.

Also certain Ego's are known to flicker the charger lights from red to green when charging. Then go back to red again. I guess its jus checkin? But wait for a constant green.

Don't get too discouraged. Its frustrating, but every new vaper mostly likely will have a horror story, as did I. Stick with it and good luck with kicking those nasty sticks :p

Ok, I just hooked mine up to the charger, it blinked maybe 3-5 times to say it's starting to charge. When fully charged, it does nothing, but the charger turns green. I only get the 20 blinks when I've been vaping and I ran it empty.

My scenario did that high blink count too. This could be a problem where the batteries they shipped are so under voltage (old stock) that the charger is reading that as a defective or shut down battery. The charger switching to green doesn't necessarily mean "full charge". It means the charger is "done" and has stopped supplying current to the battery for several possible reasons. A battery with too low a residual charge or one where the internal protection in the battery is tripped are two reasons why a charger would refuse to charge and go to "done" status.

Try cycling them as you have been doing about a half dozen times. If they don't recover and go to a full charge by that point it's time to contact the place of purchase for replacements.
