Hey all! Been lurking here for about a month and got my first PV, Joye 510, about two weeks ago from Drew at Nhaler. I ran our of juice once, ordered another starter kit and some samples and am now waiting on my next batch of juice. I have a total of 4 510 bats & 4 attys & 2 chargers & 1 PCC. I've been totally off analogs for about a week now.

I seem to be doing something wrong, because I only get around 20 or so hits off of a charged bat, I can go through 4 bats in an evening easily...this just doesn't seem right.

Also, I'm constantly topping off my carts and dripping the attys to get the vapor I need. I'll get about 3 really good hits before I get that dry atty taste and have to either do the thermometer shake or add another drop to the atty. I'm currently using Drew's HV juice, Marlbro & Virginia Tobacco. I've ordered some more HV juice along with a bottle of 60mg juice to add some kick to the 12mg HV. I've also got some regular 24mg Marlbro. I prefer the HV juice, for sure.

I've got carts with the original white filler, and I've got a few that I've done the blue foam mod on. Sometimes, I think the blue foam works a little better...sometimes I think the original foam works better...and sometimes I use an empty cart and just drip. When I drip, though, I only get about 2-3 good hits before having to drip again.

I'm constantly flooding my attys (get that gurgling noise), but seem to get better hits with it flooded. I'm also constantly overfilling and getting leakage trying to keep the darn thing topped up for consistent hits.

When I take a drag, I violate the 5 second rule all the time. It seems like I can't get a good hit without dragging on the thing for around 8-10 seconds...this is probably contributing to my high battery usage.

Sometimes I just take the hit into my cheeks and then inhale, but other times I feel I get a getter hit if I direct inhale. The direct inhale is definitely more harsh, but seems more satisfying.

Sorry for such a long first post, but I'm just trying to get this thing figured out, don't want to go back to them nasty analogs! I've done A LOT of reading on here, but I just can't seem to get the hang of the 510 the way some of you have.

Batteries - Manuals are far better, you can take as long a pull as you like without it dictating how long you can toke for.

As for how long they are lasting (this is just a suggestion), ignore the green light on your charger that claims they are fully charged and leave them on there for a good 8 hours each and see if they last a bit longer (if you haven't already tried).

The "straw mod" is great for being able to get more juice in your carts IMO.

Hope this is of some use.

Sounds like you may be ready for a big battery mod, or a usb passthrough if you are near a power outlet often ( or combo of both?) Either way they would keep you from having to swap batteries so often. We ordered 2 protoge's to get past that here.

Direct dripping is much nicer than using a cart imho and once you try, it can spoil you. It can be a hassle to do but it is up to you which you prefer.

As far as flooding the atty, it is a fine line between the perfect fill and a leaking / gurgling atty. Counting drops works best for me, using 2 drops at a time in my 510 I never have leaks. I think if you have either though you are forcing the atty to work harder to create the vapor.

As far as the different types of draw, while we could suggest different methods and say what we do/prefer in the end you will need to find the one or ones that suit you best. Reading your statements gives me the idea you might be better off with a higher voltage mod however. more vapor, more throat hit etc. Something to consider perhaps for you?

I hope you find the sweet spot in equipment/technique that works best for you, good luck!

Your mom said not to say...
The 510 batteries are notorious for being crappy, it's one of my biggest problems it has. Didn't anyone tell you that the 510 battery sucks when you were asking for recommendations? You can build a quick and easy box mod for all day 3.7v vaping or a 6v mod but I don't recommend 6v since it burns so fast and hot I think 5v is much better and tastier.

i used to overflood my 510 attys. made an excellent taste, for 3 hits, then, crap! blow that sucker out and give it three drops. PTB mod is my personal favorite for the 510. ive tried polyfill, fluval and PTB. the PTB just hits better for longer for me.
I agree with manual batteries being better. I violate that rule all the time!

Let go of the button!

You can still pull, let go of the button while pulling, and press it again after a second... I only let my atty be on for about 3-4 seconds at a time during 10s worth of pull :)
