What am I doing wrong?

Ok, so I just wrapped my first coil. I did a 11 wrap of 28g. It's not touching any sides, but it's reading 0.0 ohms and will not fire. Since its my first coil, I have no idea what could be wrong.

Izza Kanger rebuild? Checked your legs to make sure you clipped excess wire as close as possible to the coil assembly?

What are you checking your ohmage with?
Take a shot of the rest of the head.
Looks clean! Nice wraps for a first time-er!

I definitely clipped them as close as physically possible. There's no excess hanging out at all.

One in the rubber cup, one on the outside?

Yes, threaded the leads correctly. One outside and one inside.

Yes, I'm testing it this way as as to avoid shorting it if the top touches.

My problem when I started was keeping the leg that connects to the center post going down the center of the tube. If it's springy enough to touch the side of the tube = 0.0 ohms. OK, I admit it, I still have the problem on some of my coils....

I had a problem of the wire cutting through the rubber grommet after pushing the center pin in, which caused shorting. Check the grommet for cuts or tears.

Wait a minute. The lead that goes through the rubber insulator. Is that supposed to go on the outside of the metal cap or through the hole in the cap?

I actually just checked this. I thought that's what happened lol but nope, no cuts.

It looks like your neg lead is on top (neg goes out side the insolator cuff, pos goes down the middle). It could be a short like stoch said. Can't touch the metal cup. Not just the coil, but the lead too.

It goes on the outside of the cap, but make sure the wire doesn't touch the side before it gets as far down as the grommet, or the other lead also. Problem is after you puch the center pin in, you can't see where the wires are, that's part of the fun of rebuilding.... If it was too simple, they would never sell any new heads.

Bend pos lead over rubber cuff (on opposite side, or at least 90 degrees off the side) insert the pin. The ,in should punch the positive lead like the rubber cuff pinched neg lead. Hole in the pin is for airflow off the 520 connection.

Well I put the lead through the hole of the cap, and I got really really weird readings. First 3.9, then 4.4, then 4.9, then 5.5

I said **** it and fired it. It fired, and then read 1.3, so I thought I was good. Then it stopped firing. So now I'm at square one hahah

I F'ing hate Rip Tripper but he has good build videos. This is what I followed yesterday when I did my first protank coil rebuild. Worked like a charm mostly.
