I got my first kit last week, an ego-t. So I have a few questions directed at folks who have had this for awhile:

1. How long did it take to burn off the crap off the atomizer? I wasn't aware that there was any since this was my first PV, I can tell you that when I cleaned out the tank after 6 days, I couldn't believe the difference in the taste. So I'm assuming that there was crap on the atomizer that burned off which I only got rid of when I totally changed the juice. So what are people's experiences here and what's the best way for me to deal with this with future attys?

2. How long are people getting out of their ego-t attys? How do you know when it's time to clean them, and what's the best way people find to do so? When do you know it's time for a new one, the thing completely dies and doesn't vape anymore? How long on average does this take with reasonable cleaning? Do people dry burn them to clean them and how well does that work?

Thanks!

Hey there,

I started with the eGo-T and it was ok, however as I vape 100%VG juice it just wasnt doing it for me, even thinning it with distilled water. No matter what the flavour I found that I was getting a burnt taste within hours of using an atty. I did not experience the primer crap as I did blow all of that out prior to using.

I have now gone to a mix between Boge LR carto's and the 510 T system which provides me so much more flavour, and no burnt taste. The 510 T system in my opinion is way better and although a smaller tank, I have not had any of the same issues I got with the eGo-T atty's. My wife on the other hand is quite happy with her eGo-T so I guess it can really be an individual thing as well.

Thanks Richard. Actually I've thought of maybe trying a cartomizer, not that I'm not completely happy with the ego-t, but just to sample what else is out there. So I had a look at the bloog maxfusion, so you have to carry a pcc around with you, not a real big deal, I'm really wondering about how much of a hassle it would be to keep them full. So keep in mind that all i've used is the ego-t, I know when the thing needs more juice without taking the cart out, in fact I top the thing off once a day and I don't use anywhere near a full cart per day so that's pretty easy. So with these cartomizers, I've no idea how you'd be filling them, some people have said condom fill which I have no idea what they are talking about, also hear stuff like bottom fill or top fill, the only thing I know is that with my cart I just take the plastic top off and fill er up. Also, how do you know when the thing needs juice since it isn't transparent? How do you know when it's time to throw the cartomizer away and get a new one? Also, is there a burn in period with cartomizers where you inhale chemicals that are on the atty like you do with regular attys, especially the ego-t one? Thanks!

There are heaps of vids on utube in regards to filling carto's. personally I use the condom method via the bottom which works for me. You will know when they are empty as you will get a dry hit (burnt taste) and know to fill it up. I have not been using them all that long, however I am still vaping on cartos from 2 weeks ago, and I probably go through about 5 ml / day or so, so pretty heavy vaping and they are still good. You might also want to try the 510 T with the smaller tanks. Yes the tanks are smaller, however the vape is way better than the eGo-T.

The whole thing is a learning experience.

My girlfriends first 3 ego-t atomizers lasted maybe a month. Eventually they all stopped working and I got some cartomizers. I did try cleaning them in boiling water, but was never able to get any to work. I ohmed them out with a multimeter and found a good working ego-t atomizer was 2.5 ohms and the bad ones had much higher numbers (like 52). I never tried to clean them besides blowing them out until they stopped working, and could not get any to work again.

I'm running an ego-t atomizer on one battery and a boge cartomizer on the other. You pop the cap off the cartomizer and drip liquid down into the side of it. I put 22 drops in a new one and let it sit a while before using. You can pull the cap off and look into it and there is what looks like cigarette filter. You want to keep that looking wet. When it looks white and dry add drops to it until it stops soaking up the juice and starts to pool, then its full. In spite of issues I do prefer the tanks but I expect to eventually use cartomizers exclusively. They're an easy economical reliable vaping method. If you have trouble with a cartomizer you just throw it away and use a new one. If you want to try them I recommend getting a blank ego cone/cover and some boge 510 cartomizers and a 510 drip tip.

A month doesn't seem too bad really, this other stuff seems like such a pain. Soak the filler and let it set? Not sure if I want to be running juice through a filler anyway, I might try that but it seems so old school compared to tanks. This is all so unbelievably cheap in comparison to what I was spending on analogs that cost is almost right out of the equation. Anyway thanks for the info!

sounds like they need a good dry burn to remove the crud....

I have been using tank attys since they came out. I have had two die so far. I use them on my Buzz and Provari at about 4-4.2v and I love them. If you are using Ego batteries you should try the LR ones way better flavor. To clean them I wait till they are not hitting well then I put them in a glass of hot water with a denture tab for 5-10 mins then rinse with distilled water and blow out and leave to sit overnight to dry

So how long can you safely do a dry burn for? How long should you? :)

I start very slowly, 2-7 secs(time depends on how gunky it is), wait a sec, then another 2-7 secs, wait a sec, etc, etc.
After a bit i can see the red/orange glow and then i find it is a personal observation as to how long to let it glow, i stay on the safe side as i dont want to pop a coil, i let them get slightly orange, not full on orange/white, then pulse it to maintain a slight glow and thats what works for me. Then i rinse again to remove ash and dry, then a quick dry burn again and there good.
