I just pulled my battery out to change to a fully charged one, and noticed these faint lines that are all around my battery that go from one end to the other. I just checked and all my batteries have these lines. I'm using them on an hcigar Nemesis clone. These are Sony 30A VTC4's. My mod seems to be performing normally. Has anyone seen this before? Sorry for the low quality photo. They're from my outdated phone. If you click the photo, it will be a little larger.

this is a PROTECTED battery, I would think hese are the connections from the Protection Cirquit board to the + pole on the battery. The connector wire is flat and it goes from the - pole to the Plus pole and is underneath the plastic insulator.

No, this is not a protected battery. This is an IMR/Hybrid battery that does NOT have a protection circuit. It may be the Sony V3's that you're thinking of, as I believe they make a protected version of that cell. There are no high drain protected batteries on the market, especially not with a 30A continuous discharge. After looking on these forums for hours, apparently these lines are normal on these batteries. Not sure why, as I've never seen it on my AW's or my Sony 18650PF's.

It is just the shrink wrap. I would be concerned for one reason, that is they may be fakes. High quality manufacturers tend to not let something as little as cosmetic flaws through but a fake would have no problem.

I'm pretty sure they are not fake, as I purchased them from one of the most reputable battery retailers on the net, illuminationsupply.com. After searching quite a bit, I found quite a few posts with others mentioning the same thing about these batteries, and that it is normal.
Also, the batteries didn't have these lines when I purchased them. I vape at around 0.4 ohms, so it's just where all that current is traveling from one end to the other. These faint lines are just more visible on the light green shrink wrap.

If they are genuine then you are fine. I thought they came that way but since you say they didn't that changes it. I can tell you with certainty that the lines are not caused by where current is flowing from one end to the other. If you understand how a battery works you would understand saying such would be foolish. When using them do you get them hot?

I just took a look at better pics on the net and they almost all have the lines. I also took a look at all of my batteries from sony, panasonic and aw, all have same lines in shrink wrap it's just more noticeable on the green. Nothing to worry about, and without doubt not caused by current traveling from one end to the other;)

Yea, I thought about that right after I posted that, as the closed circuit is from the posts and through the tubes. I've had them for a couple weeks and they have never gotten even a little warm. Not sure why these batteries do this. Possibly where there are inconsistencies in the threads of the mod (better contact on some parts of the threads due to being dirty/ or Chinese manufacturing) and more current is flowing through those parts of the inside of the tube than others, and the direct heat from the electricity (not heat from the tube or battery, as neither ever get hot) is slightly discoloring the shrink wrap?

Yea, I just took a closer look at photos from online suppliers, and in every photo I see, they have these lines. I guess I just didn't notice it when I got them. Thanks for pointing that out; now I can rest assured that my batteries and mod are completely alright (aside from the crooked threads on the main battery tube... HCigar)
