When it rains it pours..

Last week I was rear ended in my Truck. Luckily the other Driver had insurance.

Today my other car (that my son drives) was sideswiped. This time however the other driver had no license and no insurance (welcome to California)..

On the bright side he is fine and the car that was hit today has full coverage with uninsured motorist but my deductible is $1,000.

Man when it rains it pours.. Might have to sell off some of my gear now.. BOO!

I'm off to go inspect the damage but it sounds like it's all jacked up..

It's not as bad as he made it sound.. Definitely a few thousand in damage but it's a 2010 Camaro so it won't take much for the repairs to get high..

Either way it looks like I will be out the $1,000 for my deductible..

Not sure what i am going to do at this point.. I have the 1k to cover it but some toys that I consider a luxury might have to go bye bye..

Still trying to decide..

I think half the drivers in Cali don't have insurance and drive without a license.. Oh well, it could have been worse.

You could look into refinancing your car or mortgage. That'd give you a lower interest rate and let you skip a month of payments.

Naw I'm not that worried about it.. My car and truck are paid for and I prob would not refinance even if they were not.. I was actually debating last month about removing full coverage from the Camaro but decided against it since my son drives it. My truck only has liability on it..

I have a few luxury vape items that if I am honest with myself I don't really need..

It's more the point of $1k down the drain because someone decided they didn't need to pay 30 bucks a month for car insurance..

Yeah, that's irritating. Wonder if your insurance company could help you recover your deductible through subrogation? It couldn't hurt to ask them. Basically, since your son was not at fault, your insurance company could make the other party pay your deductible as well as repair costs. Isn't that what the uninsured motorist addition to a policy is for? Otherwise, it's just a comp & collision claim and there's no point to your paying extra for uninsured motorist.

Yeah, that's irritating. You ought to be able to take him to court for your deductible. Wonder if your insurance company could help you recover your deductible through subrogation? It couldn't hurt to ask them. Basically, since your son was not at fault, your insurance company could make the other party pay your deductible as well as repair costs.

I bet by tomorrow at this time they will already be south of the border..

Yes sir my insurance company would def sue him if it were feasible for them to do so. I doubt they'd ever see a cent though and would be out more in attorney fees than would be worthwhile.

My guess is the total damage will be $2500-$3000ish. And yes I could sue him as well for my deductible but would I ever see a cent? Doubtful..

Eh, this month has been one to forget about with a quickness!

Funny story real fast about my fellow So. Cali drivers.. I was riding my bike a few weeks ago and I was in the bike lane. Now mind you the bike lane is clearly marked both on the roadway and via signs. I hear a car behind me beeping it's horn like crazy so I look back and this lady is having a tantrum in her car. Throwing her hands in the air, obviously yelling and screaming at me and honking her horn like she is possessed..

Yes she was driving in the bike lane that she must have thought was a traffic lane. After a few minutes of her tantrum and honking she decides to speed past me, missing me by a few feet and then promptly returns back to driving in the bike lane.. Oh my!

In the word of one of the great "rednecks" you can fix stupid........

I hear you on the "when it rains it pours" seems like calm waters lately are a rare thing, and when it is smooth and things are good, you can almost feel the storm coming, Im glad your son is unharmed, thats more important than all the cars and vaping gear in the world.

Ain't that the truth!

My son said the guy tried driving away after hitting him but I guess the wheel and tire on his car was so messed up he only made it a few hundred feet before his car went kaput..

Rental car # 2 to be picked up at 4pm today.. My Truck is still in the shop from the rear ending it took last week.. Sheesh!

I don't even drink and I need a flippin' beer! LOL

I see this all the time in San Diego, the bike lane or the shoulder, if its clear its a traffic lane for the priveleged ...

Recently had an impatient driver scoot around me on the right at an intersection. Not uncommon, except she was going in the opposite direction, through an empty row of parking spaces. Creative driving at its best (or worst) ...

My former boss used to drive on the freeway shoulder routinely. I asked him why, he answered sincerely that he was "in a hurry", and had never had a ticket for that, so why not ?

My all time favorites are the line cutters, who zoom past stacked up traffic on a ramp and then try to force their way in between cars in line at the last possible moment ...

My next door neighbor, a 350 pound hulk who rides a bicycle everywhere, has a collection of mirrors that he has torn off of cars that tried to squeeze him out of the bike lane. I normally don't condone vandalism, but ...

I got hit a few years back by an uninsured, non-English speaking etc. He didnt seem to understand me in spanish either, even though thats what he was speaking. I was at a light that was red for a while, he came up behind me and bang, I saw it coming from my rear view mirror. I was ....... There was a lady with a baby carriage and a few little ones all around her in front of me at the same moment, so I guess I saved her and her family.

I waived the guy to pull over and as he did, he banged into me again, NO BRAKES? He said he didnt have a license or insurance. He gave me his address, probably not real even though it was around the corner in an apt complex. My damage was not bad, bumper and trunk dented, he left and then a cop came by. I told him what happened , he said unfortunately all he could do was go to his address and at the most send him back as an illegal, but what would that accomplish but leave his family alone without a dad.

A week later I got front ended by some dumb young girl trying to make and illegal left turn in heavy EL toro road traffic, she panicked and back way up and hit me when she put the car in reverse and slammed the gas. I saw it coming and tried to back up when I saw what she was up to, but I had a car behind me and could not back up anymore.

I was fit to be tied. First thing I said was "Damn it, not again"......

What can you do? She was insured, but she told the insurance company that she thought I was trying to scam her because I said " not again......
