how is this? You recommended Dinner Lady to one of us in the Gourmet Thread and it was a big hit. Can you compare the two?
They are different types, but I now prefer the Lemon Coconut Cream Cake (Chefs Flavours) over any of my other Lemon Meringue pie / curd, Lemon bar, or lemon cake liquids, premade or diy (and I have at least 9 of these! I'm kind of obsessed). Most of them taste too sweet for me now, compared to the LCCC, and the lemon flavor seems more of a candy lemon flavor in the others now. The LCCC does not have much of a bakery component (not a big "cakey" or cookie taste), and the lemon doesn't taste like straight lemon to me ... I'm tasting some grapefruit, but it could be some citrus or another flavor modifying the lemon. It doesn't taste strongly coconut. I can identify it if I focus, but I think it more makes the whole taste rounder and more creamy than standing out as coconut qua coconut.
It's more sour/tart than my other lemon dessert juices, but it isn't strongly tart in a way that fatigues the tastebuds. It's very nicely creamy, but doesn't taste one-note like a standard fruit cream, and doesn't taste like a custard. I'm pretty much completely mystified about what the ingredients are. If I were going to try to reproduce it, I guess I would work with lemon, citrus and or grapefruit or even lime, and cream flavors similar, maybe, to a key lime pie cream type. Maybe. It's called "cake" so there's probably some sort of cake flavor as well, but I don't know what it is. Probably not FA yellow cake, though, as it doesn't gunk my coils. Maybe a cake batter flavor? I haven't tried this yet, but I have one on the way, which might tell me something.
Also mysterious: it's a shake and vape, and most creams don't tend to lend themselves to this. It doesn't, to me, taste significantly different after steeping, which is also interesting, since so many lemon flavors tend to fade. I still love my other lemon dessert juices! But I vape them much less than this one now, which I can vape, if not quite all day (because I'm not an ADV type person), for extended periods. Easily a whole tank at a time, and when I first discovered it, I really did vape it nearly all day, every day for a week.
Super long story shorter: I wouldn't classify it as variation of lemon meringue pie in the way that Dinner Lady Lemon Tart and Mr Meringue are similar. It's a different beast, and lacks the pastry component, but comes on strong in citrusy-lemony creamy notes with faint coconut, doesn't fade, is tarter, less sweet, and a good ADV type. For Lemon/Citrus dessert fans, it's a great one to have in addition to Dinner Lady, not as a replacement, I'd say -- but if I were forced to choose between them, I'd choose the LCCC.
