Hi Bestthingever, I know what you mean about this book you read it then pass it on to your freinds and say "You just have to read this". :)

I have an old paperback copy, and everytime I go thru my bookshelves with the intent to donate some books, I see it and think, "No, gotta keep that one...I'll re-read it someday". It's a keeper !

I read about two or three books a week on average, but they are my husbands picks, so they don't count.

Here's what I like:
Stephen King, James Siegel, The Lincoln Rhyme Series by Jeffery Deaver, Joseph Finder, Harlan Coben

Here's what I've read:
All of Ray Bradbury (except for "When Elephants Last in the Dooryard Bloomed", which I couldn't find a copy of to save my life) all the Kurt Vonnegut, Most of Shakespeare, the Odd series by Dean Koontz (strangely, I don't like much else he's written - though I still read most of it anyway) all of Jerzy Kosinski, all of Charles Bukowski, more...

My all-time favorites:
"the mosquito coast" by Paul Theroux
"to kill a mockingbird" by Harper Lee
"It" by Stephen King

do graphic novels count?
the Sandman series by Neil Gaiman
the "Swampthing" series by Len Wein
and of course "Maus" by Art Spiegelman

So much more, but my mind has gone blank.... I think I covered the good ones though.

Oh! The last book that I really loved was "The Romanov Prophecy" by Steve Berry. It ponders the mystery behind the execution of the last Tsar of Russia (Nicolas II) and the role that Rasputin played to the royal family and the mystery that some believe still surrounds Anastasia - could there be a royal heir yet?

But it's written in a style similar to Dan Brown's "The Davinci Code" - a fast paced mystery thriller.

Hi Rosa :)
"The Mosquito Coast" caught my eye and I looked up the reviews. This sounds like a good read!! I want to read this. Thanks for your reviews.

I'm currently reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (yeah, yeah, you read that in grade school....:pervy:). It's turning out to be hilarious. I totally would not have appreciated the language and sarcasm if I read it back in school.

I have banned myself from reading any Mark Twain, but that is only because I live in Hannibal, MO and it is everywhere.

Currently I am re-reading Heinlein's The Moon is a Harsh Mistress

I am reading some of Poe's short stories right now. In between books. After I have read a really really good book, it is hard for me to settle on another. They all seem bland till I find "that" book that trips my trigger again. So I do the short story bit until I do. For me thats hard because normally I don't care for any book that is under 500 pages.
