I had been a heavy smoker for 26 years, just felt i needed to quit.Tried the patch, the gum, chewing on straws , couldn't do it . Tried actupuncture , nothing worked , bought smoketip 5 weeks ago haven't had a real cig since . just placed an order with v4l for new manual batts and some carts. why the government would try and ban these things is beyond belief .

Swiped mom's Salems, then her Trues...when I could buy, I followed the family trait: Salems to Marl menthol to Misty Menthol Ultra Lights to vaping menthol juice with menthol drops DIY. Still light up occasionally, but rarely inhale. Waiting for an order of Snus to arrive, hoping that will take off the edge. Started at age 9, now am 59..luckily! LOLOL

Camel non-filtered for about 25 years, then Doral light 100's for the next 15 years. Still have a couple of Dorals a day, but after a pack and a half habit and only 3 weeks of vaping, I'm looking at it as analogs not smoked, not totally quit.

It's been hard. I'm out of pipe tobacco and have promised myself I won't buy any more. I still have a few cigars left, but haven't touched them yet. This is nothing like the times I've tried cold turkey or gum or various drugs, much easier. But I'm not completely off them yet. They taste like crap and are starting to burn my throat, but I still have to light one a couple of times a day. (To make it nastier tasting, I'm smoking the other half of the analog I put out earlier).

I've smoked for 40 years and I can accept that this kind of change may not happen overnight. But I still wish it had, especially reading some of the comments on this forum and others that I'm following right now. I read about these people that have smoked a carton a day for 200 years and quit the instant that the package containing their first e-cig was shipped. (I might be stretching that just a little, poetic justice, etc). I was given a 510 no-name ( completely unmarked, no clue what it really is) just a battery, atty, and a couple of carts. Didn't have a charger or anything. It worked for an evening and that was enough for me to get interested in it. I did a bit of searching on the web and found this site and a few others. The products were interesting, but with the minimal experience I'd had with the hardware I had, I wasn't really impressed. Then an acquaintance of my daughter introduced me to the Blu. Actual hands on with an e-cig that's broken in and instructions on how to use it. That's what got me hooked. I didn't buy a Blu, thanks to this site. ( Sorry guys at Blu, but that's how it works, fix your shipping issues and CS issues).

I bought a Volcano. ( I am not pushing this company, if the cards had fallen just slightly differently, this could have been anybody out there). Didn't want to go in too deep into this unknown territory, so I just bough the minimum to try the product. Overnight went from a pack and a half to half a pack a day. Major issue. I just bought one battery. There is no stronger frustration out there then having a nic fit and your only battery is charging. Staring at the stupid red light on the Volcano PCC waiting for it go off is almost worse than the nic fit.

Now, I have an almost embarrassing amount of Volcano product, but it's what got me going and it's still my goto e-cig. It works, just does the job, most of the time. I've also gotten their Magma line now too. That covers most of the spots that the Volcano doesn't cover. I like the Magma better when I'm driving and at the computer. I've also learned that the 510 that I had could have been the right one to, as the battery works fine with the Magma atty, but the no-name atty was the problem. ( couldn't re-try the carts because I pitched them - could have been good blanks for reloading but I didn't know that then).

This went way too long and got way off topic. I'm not pushing the Volcano product but with all of the anti L88B posts I've seen on here I feel like I need to put a positive vote in to help level out the playing field. I can see where for some people that a L88B would fill the whole void from analogs .... didn't for me, but the combination of a L88B and a 510 has almost filled it for me. What I would have liked when I was first making my decisions was for some one to have told me to ignore everyone that said "this one device is the perfect device". You need to match what you get with how you smoked, and that may not be one type of PV, in fact, probably won't be.

I've been RYO/MYO'ing it for 15yrs. Camels are my fav go-to "tailor-made" when loose tobacco isn't avail. Been smoking 25yrs.

roll-your-own tobacco was hit with a massive tax a year or so ago bring the cost of a lb of tobacco from ~20$ to $40+ , so we all started rolling up pipe tobacco- now theres a 775% tax increase bill proposed on pipe tobacco.

So I'm looking at a long term solution to the gov'ts attempt to stop my nicotine consumption. I have severe chronic pain issues, and narrowing my focus in on my cig, and the nicotine give's me brief relief. (also on tons of Rx painkillers).

I'm not sure vaping is the solution- depending on what happens with the current bills.

I've been trying to get into a habit of using my silver bullet as often as I can but I still carry around a security blanket pack of Camel Wides. Wides were definitely the most flavorful cigarette I ever smoked but I know what it is doing to my health so I hope to seal the deal soon and kick the nasty analog habit.

Tried to switch to wides back in the 90's.. was like smoking tampons.... not like I know what smoking tampons is like or anything  (they're just so darn hard to light!)

It broke my heart when they outlawed these...but hey that drove my to the ecigs and now I have my very own DIY juices that are so much better. I found 3 pkgs of analogues while cleaning a couple of weeks ago and happily gave them away without any temptation. LOL.

I tried everything to quit and now am over 3 months smoke free. It took a while to get my ecig equip right and to learn how to drip etc. I just kept trying and reading stuff on the forum until I hit what works for me.

I am a chain vaper now and operate off of a 5 V passthrough with HV attys. I am getting a new mod where I can go back to 3.7 V when I want to though. HV isn't all that for every flavor. I can vape from my office and not have to stand outside in the rain puffing away!!

I have an AC outlet on my dash in the car...so I get some looks at the red lights with my car filled with vapor. Kind of reminds me of all the vapor inside the vehicle in the Cheech and Chong movie...if ya know what I mean . LOL.

My advice to noobs is to keep going...keep trying...keep learning and don't give up too soon if you are having problems or are frustrated with ecigs. Get good equipment...sometimes the cheap stuff you get for a starter isn't really going to suit your needs long term...esp get good batteries.

Hope this helps someone....

Marlboro Menthol Lights and Salem lights, a pack a day for 15 years. My last one was a little over 3 weeks ago.

I have wanted an analog cigarette over the last few days though, but that is because my spare battery died and I have to wait for this one to charge. I think I will be able to hold out till my replacement gets here, and I ordered a spare (3rd battery). I highly recommend that anyone new to vaping have at least three batteries and two attys. More if you really want to be safe! :D
