I really have two question. Question 1: So I'm thinking about modding my Smoktech vivi tank and using a SS mesh. I watched a video on how to do this and at the end, the guy tests the oxidized mesh and this huge black plume was generated out of the oxidized unsoaked SS mesh. I've also heard people get a tinge of metal taste when they dry hit. What carcinogens are being generated using SS mesh that would cause it to look like a car crash?

Question 2: Why can't I figure out how to put a picture on my profile:(

I've never tried it and never seen the video. I don't know much about SS during vaping period, I can tell you from work experience that chromium is an issue when welding stainless. I doubt it would play any part during vaping though simply due to the relatively low heat input (a SMAW arc is around 11k F, 6k or so is directed toward the base metal). CR6 is supposed to be a carcinogen, but OSHA tells me it's alright for me to sniff up to X-amount of micro-grams per day without a respirator. That's about the only carcinogen i am aware of in regards to stainless steel.

That has to be isolated to something HE did. I ONLY use SS Mesh wicks, and I've NEVER had black smoke. With juice its white vapor, without juice it just glows hot, no smoke or vapor of any kind.

Sometimes there will be a slight metallic taste when its a new wick, because well, it's a metal wick, but it goes away quickly.
