Yes I would try both coils and it's always useful to try out different coil options when you can, sometimes the differences can surprise you (pleasantly!) and it's fun to run into that. Remember as far as wattage, manufacturer's recommendations are just that, recommendations. Start low priming your coil and then work your way slowly up to a wattage range you feel comfortable with, using that coil. It may be lower than the "recommended" wattage, or it may be within that range. Good luck with it, if you don't like the coil, it probably won't take too long to find out, and then you will know what your preference is for the tank.
