What comes after the 510?

Status
Not open for further replies.
Hey guys,..

been vaping for about a year + and started out with the 510, some carts, doing the DIY liquid with the regular 510 atomizer and basically some PTB cartridge mods.

I started to follow the forums again and it seems that there is a real evolution going on - and the 510 is seen as OLD SCHOOL :) So what should I be looking at next? I want to step up to the next level, without breaking the bank, and get into something new. I've had great luck with my stuck from Happy Vaper and I want to stay in canada to order my stuff.

What i would like to do is keep making my own juice, i don't mind being a little creative in filling as long as I can carry what I make. I'm not really concerned about heavy throat hit but I do like flavour and vapour. Can anyone reccommend the best path to follow next?

I really look forward to some canadian ordering advice :) thanks guys

OK! so tell me about these low resistance Attys... does happy vaper have them? and is the idea that it burns hotter? (ie. more like a high voltage)

And I dunno - maybe it's me - but a lot of my flavours are really similar - there seems to be this common thread between all of them that perhaps is about the PG/VG mix having a flavour of it's own...

does LR increase flavour and vapour?

besides a bigger battery llife your not going to get a huge difference between an ego or a 510 except the ability to use a LR atty

LR makes more of everything, it's like your vaping off 2 pv's at the same time. And the ego makes it all possible, since you've been vaping a year I'm sure you will appreciate the ability to use soo many other pieces of hardware as dopeh said.

Edit: Sorry forgot to mention, yes Happy Vaper does have LR atty's, and he has the ones made by Cisco which have been very favourably reviewed.

My fingers are way too tired to go on about these, just go to the thread entitled "cartomizer" in the canada forum...

Edit: nvm I see you've already been there... In conclusion the CE2's are good but the Boges are better and cheaper (in my opinion)

you can use the CE2 on a 510 as well but warning once you go LR a regular atty will not ever be as good for you
i started with LR 510 joye atties but i was blowing them in a week or 2 then i went with a cisco LR306 iv had this one for well about 2 months so i would go straight to the cisco LR atty from happy vaper , i also recommend grabbing an ego passthrough battery if you do go with the ego , i love mine but now im upgrading to an ali'i which i hope will be my last upgrade cause its imo the ultimate e-cig

+1 on the ego pass through (no extra charger required). I would just buy this, a cone and some new atties i I was upgrading from a 510. Besides the extended battery life I don't think there is a huge difference between a 510 and ego. The cone makes the draw a little tighter and adds a little bit of heat IMHO.

The LR atties run hotter then regular atties and are not or everyone. If you are talking the 510 variety I do not find the flavour as good as regular resistance atties. I know quite a few vapers who do not like LR atties. The 306 is really only for drippers which is also not for everyone. Lots of people rave about these but my original experience put me off and I find 1.5Ω runs too hot for my liking.

Hi Telemole!

I usually read a thread before posting, but haven't gone through this one yet. So apologies if I'm offering info already given to you. Like you, I started with the 510 (I chose the automatics). But I never went with separate atomizers. I chose 510 cartomizers from day one (Happy Vaper carries them, five for $10):

Happy Vaper - Blank (empty) 510 Cartomizers

Anyway, I vaped the crap out of my 510's & knew it was time to upgrade. I of course looked at the eGo which is also made by Joye. They're 650 mAh batts, and cost $26. I figured for $4 more I may as well truly upgrade.

So I went straight from the 510 (180 mAh) to an automatic Mega eGo (900 mAh) for $30. I got the Silver one (automatic Mega eGos are only available in black or silver). I use it with 510 cartomizers, and without the cone. Vaping bliss!! You'll need the eGo Fast USB Charger for it (510 USB charger isn't compatible) - it's $10 - as well as the Wall Plug Adapter (eGos & Mega eGos shouldn't be charged through a computer, unlike 510's) - it's $6:

Happy Vaper - Mega eGo Batts
Happy Vaper - Happy eGo Fast USB Charger
Happy Vaper - USB Wall Plug Adapter

(Note: The reason I don't use the cone with my auto Mega eGo is because it acted like a silencer, & also really tightened the draw for some reason - had to suck like crazy to get anything with it on. With the cone removed, the draw returned to a happy normality.)

As to DIY for your juices...that should be simplicity itself. I go to Evapers for my flavourless PG w/nic (a 30mL bottle at 28mg strength is only $19). Just choose Flavourless, and then the nic strength. They also carry flavourless VG w/nic - same link, same price for the same strength. They have plain VG too for $3, in a very convenient squeeze bottle:

E-Liquid 17 Flavors - 30 ml
Vegetable Glycerin 30ml

Evapers is located in Peterborough too, right where you live!

You could probably arrange to meet Rob at a Timmies to buy your stuff from him directly & save the cost of shipping. But yeah, just like Happy Vaper they're friendly, carry consistently good product, & ship fast.

As to flavourings (the only other ingredient you'd need for your DIY juices), you can get lots of them from several different makers at Happy Vaper for only $2 to $3 per 3mL bottle. If you don't mind waiting a bit longer, you can save money by ordering larger quantities of flavourings from Perfumer's Apprentice directly in California (they're my favourite by far of the flavour makers). For example (in USD of course), 4mL from them is $1.40. 15mL, $3.80. 30mL, $5. And so forth. I've ordered flavourings both ways & give a thumbs up to both.

Happy Vaper - Concentrated Flavourings (Perfumer's Apprentice, LorAnn, Capella, FlavourArt)
Perfumers Apprentice - Professional DIY Flavors

Happy Vaper also has empty dram bottles (good for mixing small batches in, only $1.24 each) & blunt-tip syringes (good for stirring your DIY juice, and filling your cartomizers - 4-pak is $1.99):

1 Dram Clear Glass Dropper Bottle with Separate Cap
3ml Luer Lock syringe with a blunt needle

So to sum up...I recommend that you get the Joye automatic Mega eGo battery (not the manual) - only $30 for the batt, and $16 for the charger + wall adapter. I also recommend you give the 510 cartomizers a whirl too. Between Happy Vaper & Evapers you should find everything you need right here at home. And an occasional flavour order from California couldn't hurt either. Hope this info helps! By all means, don't be a stranger in the forum. You're always welcome here!

P.S. Telemole, re: the LR (low resistance) atomizers...compared to a standard resistance atomizer, they deliver hotter vapour (& many folks say more flavourful vapour). The tradeoff is that you take shorter drags, because it heats up faster. A LR atomizer will also go through juice more quickly...sometimes a lot more quickly. All in all, there are benefits to both standard & low resistance, but in the end it's a matter of personal preference.

I'm already getting great vapour that's plenty warm, & great flavour, with my juices in standard 510 cartomizers...so yeah. I have been keen to try a LR 510 cartomizer to see what the difference is like, but all in all I'm pretty happy where I am.

P.P.S. I strongly recommend against the RoyalSmoker CE2 R4 ceramic "filler-less" cartomizers. In my opinion they suck - bad. I wrote a review on them a while ago in this thread, post #15:

SO much great information in here! Thanks a ton!

I'm shocked and excited there is also a distributor in peterborough - i was almost going to become one just to hit up the local market - LOL

Thanks so much for taking the time to lay that all out - I've placed my order and anxiously await my gear - I'll report back on my success!

thanks again

i have CE2 R4s as long as you rinse them the first time and let em dry then dry burn them they work wonderfully
and thats coming from me a dedicated dripper of the LR306 lol, i think ou should give 306 a go any way , just get one with a drip tip , even in standard resistance they blow the 510 atty under the bus

i suggest going with cisco designed Low resistance 306 atty it is absolutely amazing. Definitely the next step up from 510.
i forgot to specify cisco also not joye

i have some joye306 and they still work nice but the cisco is hands down imo the best atty from my understanding he used higher qualitly metals so they out last and out preform any other LR atty ive tried

i also noticed on the joye306 the area the spring recesses into like the hole under the bridge is much narrower
so i assume less juice can get in there

regardless im still using the same lr cisco 306 from 2 months ago and it works just as good as when i got it

i ordered a few to be safe cause my LR joye 510 were only lasting 1- 2 weeks before i had to replace them , now i have a few unused spares which is nice
i was even using the lr510's in rotations to try and have em last longer happy vaper sells them too but be careful you select the cisco not the joye cause he has both in 306
