Maybe this photo will help. 801 is the the purple on the left, the 510 is black on the right. The 801 has a fusion on it. The fusion has a nipple at the bottom, so the little bit of silver you see between the buzz and the tank is the carto itself sitting flush on the BP!

It depends on the carto your using in your tank. With the Fusion in my tank and the 801 top cap on the Buzz Pro there is no gap. But when I want to use another threaded carto it takes an adapter so I just leave the 808 top cap and use a short adapter. Then it looks like the one Moorea has in her photo.

Ok, thanks much 5, Mike and moorea. Anyone know a machinist who makes spacers for these to hide the gap when having to use an adapter? I actually have a brass spacer coming from someone for my buzz, but he is busy and I don't want to ask him to make me for one for my infinity. He has/had a buzz and offered to make them anyway for some of us. I want to be able to use 510 carto's too and there is always a gap with a connection. My current infinity is a 901 connection and I haven't found a decent 901 carto out there. I always have to use an adapter. Hence....gap.
