what different kinds of coils can be built and used in protank heads?

I've been rebuilding protank heads for a little while now and am wondering if there is any other kind of coil that I can wrap other than my usual four wrap 1.8 ohm coil. I use an eyeglass screw driver that's about 1mm wide to wrap my coils and use organic cotton as a wick. Use an map 2.0 for my test bed to check ohms before using anything I build. I only have 32 gauge kanthal at the moment but would like to a achieve 1.5 ohms or a little less if possible. Would using a larger diameter rod to wrap the coil o help me do this?Or do I need thicker or thinner wire. I plan on getting an rba in the future, but until then, I'm only rebuilding gladius and protank head. Thanks. This was typed from my phone so I apologize if it's difficult to read.

1mm wide? I would definitely go larger (wire and diameter).

I was recently waxing nostalgic on my Protank3 and heads. I was able to get a 28 ga with about 6 wraps around a 3/32" (just over 2mm) screwdriver and it ended up around 1.4 ohm I think. It's a tight squeeze, but not difficult to move it around as needed to center it up. Since it was a PT3 (dual-coil head), I had to compensate with extra KGD cotton to fill the extra void, which helps to keep the coil from moving around. No leaks or gurgles. It's a definite upgrade from any Kanger-made coil, and probably the most dense vapor I've ever seen from the PT3, but I'm just spoiled by rta's, so the nostalgia was short-lived.

When I rebuilt my Kanger heads I ALWAYS used a 1/16" diameter to wrap the coil on, I've done 3/32" and there is almost no room for error on centering the coil without touching the sides. You simply adjust the wire diameter, I think that 12 wraps is about the maximum that would fit in the head. I think I did like 12 wraps with 28 guage and it was around 1.0 ohms but you will learn from practice. I've run both SS mesh (tricky to not short out) and straight cotton. The cotton was tough to thread and rewick but made dry burning easier than the SS mesh. SS mesh is great if you want to push the wattage higher either thru sub ohm coil with bigger wire, or higher setting on a regulated device. The cotton could handle 15W from my Vamo OK but SS mesh can go MUCH higher and taste was better.
