Hello,

I am by no means a heavy smoker. I have been smoking for about two months on and off, and now have one cigarette a day. Every time I smoke I get a head rush and a nicotine buzz that persists for quite a while. Will E-cigarettes give me this same feeling? Is it less satisfying??

Thanks
Seriously then?

I suggest drinking more coffee.
A lot more coffee.

It tastes a hell of a lot better and it is perfectly legal and healthy.
At least I hear it is healthy, because Starbucks told me so.

Or maybe it was the FDA that told me so, because they haven't banned it yet.
So I have to assume it is very healthy for me.
Just like cigarettes.

If you want to chase a buzz, this is a very expensive way to do so.
And it is certainly more hassle than many of the more legal avenues you could be pursuing.

So with E-cigs you don't even feel the nicotine?? Then what's the point of them??

Seems like these weren't the awesome alternative I was looking for :(
Have yourself a cup of tea with four spoons of sugar, that would be buzz enough.
Most of us are trying to cope with less nicotine and NONE of the other 4000 chemicals and toxins and carcinogens, not to mention the TAXES. You want a buzz and try to over-dose on nicotine one time, that may about do it for you. It's NOT pleasant, it's something that will make you sick, possibly a lot sicker than you will know right after your heart stops beating. Nicotine shouldn't be a play-thing for anyone. That's like saying you want to try .... or Crack, just one time, just for the buzz.
The point is that in using e-cigarettes, we won't feel the withdrawal from not smoking tobacco cigarettes, that's about the simplest way I can put it. Not an attractive truth, is it.

Alternative to what hold 1 cig a day trying to look cool

of course we can feel the nicotine wtf do you think we have them for? r u an idiot?
that little buzz you get is a liar (4000 chemicals and lack of oxygen= buzz) that will get you hooked on nicotine.

We smoke 20-40 cigs a day. That is how f-ing hooked we are on nicotine, and it does almost nothing. So go smoke more you ...... and when you older and smoke a pack a day a dying to quit then come back here and ask some dumb .... questions

someone will be here to answer!

:evil:r u smoking more yet?

Hello,

I am by no means a heavy smoker. I have been smoking for about two months on and off, and now have one cigarette a day.

It always starts so innocently like this.

Not preaching, just saying...

smoker lungs - Google Image Search

Every time I smoke I get a head rush and a nicotine buzz that persists for quite a while. Will E-cigarettes give me this same feeling? Is it less satisfying??

Vapor isn't as "heavy" in the lungs compared to smoke, and doesn't give the same distinct type of headrush. Although... it can still be quite strong, especially for those who haven't yet built up a high nicotine tolerance. You will definitely notice it, this isn't like sucking in air or anything if you're using a decent e-cig model.

"Satisfaction" ...well that entirely depends on who you ask - it's really kind of subjective - impossible to give a blanket answer here. It will vary somewhere between 50% - 100%. Some even prefer it more.

(I won't reiterate other valid points already mentioned in this post)

Rio, I too hope you just quit smoking. Ecigs aren't going to do what you want. If you ever want to run that marathon, jog, workout, swim, etc..then smoking is not what you want to be doing. When just making the bed gets you winded you'll know what I meant. If you quit now, someday your heart and lungs will thank you. If you want to feel a head rush, skydiving might be a better option. :pPlease don't smoke.

Buzz? Head rush? I personally don't feel one. I jump back and forth between my e-cig and the analog cigs, especially at work and when I compare the two, I get more of a head rush with the analogs, more than likely due to the chemicals in the tobacco. If I were to compare an e-cig and an analog cig, I think of them as being a glass of Hennesseys and water. The e-cig is the water and the analog is the Hennesseys. With an analog, I feel, a bit of a bite in the back of my throat whereas the e-cig has a smoother feel when vaping.

<onto my soapbox>

Rio, like all of us here, we are people who smoked regularly...significantly more than 1 a day...in some cases an average of 1 per hour that wanted an alternative and safer option to get our nicotine.

Smoking about 1 a day means that you are more of a social smoker or one that needs a fix to calm the nerves every so often. Smoking 1 a day is not an addiction, but more like a habit. All of use here needed it to survive (okay, maybe a bit over the top but hopefully you get my meaning). If your desire to switch to an e-cig is for that 1 smoke per day or to be cool or to have a new "toy", then it would be a waste of money and possible frustration on your part when it fails or if it fails to give you the desired feeling. You also run the problem of then being addicted to nicotine (which I hardly believe you are at this point) and then blaming the e-cig due to how easy it is to smoke more.

Personally, I love my e-cig. I think it's great. I've cut down on the regular analogs significantly. It used to be that on the weekends, I'd have to buy at least one pack. Now, the only time I buy a pack is if I'm out of analogs on a friday night. I don't plan on completely quitting but this is definately a step in the right direction if I wanted to.

I don't think I"m wrong in my assesment but I could be wrong...it wouldn't be the first time.:p

Do none of you remember the way it *felt* to begin smoking? When you stoppped getting that feeling, why did you continue to smoke?

I remember that feeling. Back when I started, I was only smoking 1 or 2 a day. Usually I would have one on SA and one on SU when I was at friend's houses, then I would go smoke-free for the next 5 days after that and repeat the process. It wasn't until college that I started to smoke more heavily.

Ditto - ADDICTION!!

No Rio, I don't remember how it felt when I began smoking. I was 14-15 years old, and my cousin was doing it. And then we continued doing it.

I remember what it felt like when I started vaping! That was April 21st.
I had just heard of them. I had been smoking for 35 years. 2-3 packs a day, everyday.

I had just been to the dentist and again endured having the brown tar stains scraped off my teeth. The taxes had gone up $10.00 a carton. I coughed up brown crap every morning. When I laid down in bed at night I heard a "crackeling" sound in my airway and lungs. My clothes, house, car.. everything stunk of it.

Why didn't I just quit? I couldn't. As much as I wanted to, the idea of quitting frightened me. It becomes a part of you. Everytime you try to quit you struggle with that last cigarette. As much as I have wanted to quit, and all the ways I have tried... Deep down, I never wanted to be smoking my LAST cigarette.

I just vape instead, because it satisfies things that patches, gum and pills don't. So far it hasn't saved me any money either.

This is not something I would just choose to do. It's just better than what I used to do... I think.

Walk away Rio.

That you're even asking that question tells me two things: 1-you're NOT addicted to cigarettes and should listen to all the good advise and just walk away. and 2-you're really young if you need to ask this question at all.

Truly, why in the world would you want to take up a "habit" of vaping when you obviously have no habit of smoking cigarettes? For the buzz???

If your motivation is the "buzz" you say you get when you smoke your 1 cigarette a day, then you are playing with fire and are just young, dumb, naive, and "indestructible" we all though we were when we were in our teens.

The buzz is a lie. Just like any addict will tell you, you will FOREVER be chasing the first high. If it's smoking, drinking, marijuana, crank, whatever--choose your "BUZZ".

This isn't what you're looking for Rio. What you're looking for is for someone to tell you, "yeah, this is legal and better than smoking!" Well for this addict of 30+ years, It is.

For you, it's just a waste of money and time, and leads at least myself to think of you as a kid, f****g around on the computer during their summer break while your folks are at work.

1 cigarette a day.....please.:-x

Yesssssss I do recall and that dear was not from nicotine it was from the thousands of other chemicals and the carbon monoxide when you smoke.... this has been repeated in this post over and over. AND the reason we kept smoking is due to ADDICTION.... not a buzz for crying out loud. Once you're addicted you cant just stop, it isn't as simple as that.

Just stop now while you still can

Nicotine is the only psychoactive chemical in cigarettes.
