What do I need to get a single 18350 and 18490 to work in a ggts?

For 18350, you will remove the top tube, put your battery in and screw the collector tank on the telescope tube, and tighten until you have connection.
For 18490 you leave the top tube on and screw the telescope down until you have connection. It's the telescope tube that allows for any size battery.

you should probably have your brother look at a couple youtube videos and or the GG Wiki so he can get to know the parts and it's functions.
