So after a ton, I mean a ton of research and review videos I think I am going to purchase the Silver Bullet from Altsmoke. This will be my first upgrade from a 'standard' e-cig (kr-808d1 from SI). So I do dig the 3.7v reviews I have seen, but from watching a particular review it seems like also going with two RCR123A 3.0 volt's for 6volt vaping seems to be the way to go. I also would like to purchase a drip tip and some e-juice. I currently vape 24mg's out of cartos, any suggestions as to some good juice?

What do I need to know before buying this? How hard is this to use? Is it good for portable use? Is this a logical next step up from my 808?

I feel like a dang noob!

Any help is absolutely appreciated!

The SB is extremely easy to use and very portable. It's about the size of my Indulgence mod with the extension sleeve, so it's not that big, but it's not going to fit in your pocket. If you're going to use it at 6V, then you'll want to buy some HV atties. 6V will blow SR and LR atties. You can use the LR or SR atties when you vape at 3.7V. Make sure you buy a battery charger for the 3V batteries. Super T Manufacturing has a UltraFire WF-188 that will charge almost anything out there.

You can still use the cartos with the SB. A lot of us are using the dual coils will great success. I DIY my juice, but I can recommend VaporBomb and Ms. T's Bakery. I'm sure that others will post their favorites as well.

How ironic! We're both from Colorado and this will be my 5280 post! Forgive my off topic trivia...

Thanks for the quick reply! My first question I have from your reply is you'll have to explain what SR and LR is. LR is Low resistance? What is SR (lol, sorry I'm pretty new). I will definately pick up some attys for the 3.7 on altsmoke but as I am looking now it seems to me they don't offer high voltage attys or maybe they do and I am just dumb. What might be the best spot to find them? Keep in mind this will be my first time using an atty and what have you so I do want to make sure I buy the right things even if it means multiple orders. As far as the two 3v batteries I stumbled upon some on amazon that I feel will do the trick but I do want to look into your recommendation. I may decide to use cartos but I do have an urge to get the full experience from advanced vaping. Everything I read says to manual drip the 510 attys to 'keep them moist'. Would it be better to use the cartos or no? I hope using the drip method the flavor will come out more. I like my 808 cartos but it has that odd taste to it if you know what I mean. Also as far as the 6v vaping goes, should I use a lower mg liquid? Will the throat hit be more intense as the mg's go up?

Congrats on the 5280th post, haha that is pretty coincidental! I actually just moved out to Colorado two years ago. I am orignally from KC, MO and don't think I'll ever move back! Ive already done a few 14ers and to me there is just nothing better.

SR = Standard Resistance (usually 2.5 - 2.8 ohms) and LR = Low Resistance (usually 2.0 and less) HV is usually 3.0 and above. I'd buy my batteries only from the registered suppliers on the forum or from All-Battery.com and only buy protected batteries!

You don't have to move down to a lower nic level unless you want to. I'm vaping 18 and 24mg at 5 and 6V, no problems. TH is going to be a little more intense, but this also depends on your PG/VG mix. I'm using a Liquinator Dual Coil Carto (DCC) tank with a 60PG/40VG mix. The TH is only slightly stronger for me. Cartos work wonderfully for all voltages, but atomizers should be used for dripping only with mods. Yes, you have to keep them wet and this is especially important if you're going to be using HV atties. It doesn't take much to pop them. Dripping takes some practice, but the results are well worth it.

Oh...check out IkenVape for all of your atties. There are none better in my opinion and Isaac (the owner) is known for his top notch products and customer service!

Again thank you! I have been looking into VG dominate juices and I think it's the way to go. SO I want to ask you this if you don't mind replying again with another question. I clicked your blog entries and read the 'Why I rarely recommend Mods to newbies' entry. I have tons of respect for how you wrote everything out. I started feeling a little panicky on this choice of PV. Now, I have been using the 808D (the Volt) from Smokeless Image. The batteries I believe are pretty lame standing next to the SB. Am I making the right choice? I think I am. Maybe jumping straight to a 6v PV may be a tad too much but I will get both batteries to give myself the opportunity to see what I like most. You obviously seem to care about making the right recommendations to new users, so before I drain myself of 160-200 bucks I do want to know if this is a legit upgrade for me to make.

Making the jump to mods is a big decision, so you're right to be concerned. I don't think that you're making the wrong choice, but I do recommend getting batteries so that you can try both 3.7 and 6V options. Some people don't like vaping at 6V; I certainly didn't the first time I tried it, but over time it kind of grew on me. Mods are quite a bit different from the "plug 'n vape" batteries that most of us start out with and I did a ton of reading and research before I decided to make the jump.

I suggest reading this little article to get a better idea of how voltage and ohms apply to the world of vaping:

What Are These LR and HV Atties

I can tell you that the SB is going to be one of the easiest mods to use and I think it's a great introductory mod. I would also suggest that you hold on to your Smokeless Image kit as a back up. I started out with Riva and eGo batts, which my fiance now uses. You should always have at least one back up PV because we all know that crap happens and you don't want to be without a vape stick!

The Silver Bullet is one of the classic tube mods. I've tried mine at HV and didn't really care for it. If you're determined to go that route you can always pick up a couple of 18650's for 3.7v vaping if you don't like 6v. So the SB is versatile enough to handle numerous options. If you want to start at 6v you'll probably want an atty in the 3.5 ohm range. At 3.7v I like 1.7 ohm atty's. 1.5's tend to burn some juices and 2.0 ohms run a bit cool for me.

Just wanted to chime in here and make sure that you are aware that your cartos from your KR808 won't fit on the SB without an adapter.

Might just as well order some new ones anyhow, they go pretty quick. Altsmoke sells them too, the Yeti cartomizers will work just fine on the SB. I ordered a box of them with my Alpha. :)

Yep, totally aware of this. One of the first things I researched. To be 100% honest with you I think I mainly want to use a Drip tip with the 510 attys. I think going the atty route it will more than likely preform much better than a carto would. Plus I really want to get away from the metallic/odd tastse that comes from cartos. Thanks for the reply!

I love the SB...I vape it at home mostly, but also stick it in my golf bag when I am out on the course. I vape it at 6v with 3.0 Boge cartos. I DIY my juice...so you will just have to try some of the trusted juice vendors here on ECF.

It does seem to be a tad on the beefy side from the review videos I watched. I figure it will stay an at home PV and I will take my Volt with me. Downside about that is I am sure after vaping at 3.7v and 6.0v my volt will seem like an ultra-ultra-ultra-light analog and I will be forced to upgrade to something that is a bit smaller for portable PV use.

Oh, I use an Alpha, just got it from Altsmoke. Beautiful piece of work. I use it at 3.7v with the 14500 batteries, and it's fairly light. It's possible to put 2 of the CR2 batteries in and make it 6v...but I didn't want to void my warranty yet. ;)

It's pretty much my dedicated PV right now. I use Cartos.

Congrats on choosing a SB. Give yourself some time to learn HV vaping. It's worth it. If you get stressed, throw a 3.7v 18650 protected batt in your SB with a LR carto and vape happy and easy for a bit. The learning curve isn't horrible but there is one at HV.

As a noob HV vaper I'd suggest getting a box of HV attys from VaporKings. You get 10 attys and the price comes way down. You're prolly going to pop a few learning to use a 6v mod. They work as well as the high-priced singles advertised as the best. You could also search the ECF classifieds. I saw some HV attys (new) yesterday up for grabs. Members selling to members. Check feedback from seller before purchase. I always say that and have never had an issue. You chose an excellent mod. Hope you have many happy years together :)

Thanks for the advice Boodle! I was just going through Ikenvape and trying to decide what I need for HV vaping. I do plan on getting two of each (HV and LV attys). I have been watching numerous videos about how to vape HV with attys. I must say GrimmGreen is a HUGE help as well as orthchris. I am so excited to order it! Can't wait. Without breaking the bank I am waiting until Wednesday to make a deposit so I can get this sweet piece of a vape beauty ordered!

PS. I can't wait to try some VG dominate juice. Oh man the vapor looks so appealing. Lol
