The OP was wanting to know what mod these vape shops use ... not what type of atomizer they use.

On the other hand, I don't see what useful info will be got from knowing the brand of mod they use for juice sampling ... There is no 'standard' mod used by vape shops for customer sampling of juice
The best way to test juice is using a setup that you are use to.
Most tanks have muted flavor because of air flow.
If you take your own setup, you won't have to worry about what a shop uses.

Local B&M: $1 per hour with your own RDA, with a list of flavors (about 30 inhouse blends) to try from. They also carry designer label liquids, same $1 per hour. They frown on RTAs ever since a couple people got busted filling Aromamizer Supremes and other large RTAs/tanks with juice.

ninja edit: your own mod as well.

one shop provides a couple of egos and some similar in age tanks, another actually has one of those boxes with half a dozen pass thru setups attached to tanks, another expects you mainly to use your mod with their tanks, a few have 30w box mods... that's just the ones i've seen personally.

The mod isn't that relevant.
Most shops use egos for new vapers that dont have their own gear.
For experienced vapers they usually lend an atty if needed.

This thread can educate a vaper ( and some shop owners) with several very good ideas and points.
If they bother to read.

Its always preferable to use your own gear to test juice for obvious reasons.

Called the neighbor to see what the shop he works at uses. He said eGo or similar type batteries with Aspire ET-S glass tanks. Coils are changed out once a week no matter how many times they've been used that week. Some maybe haven't been used by customers at all for some of their eliquids. Doesn't matter, all are changed.

One shop I know of has tanks at 40 watts ;( , another has CE4s for their house juices that are so old they're leaking and the label is rubbed off. I think they still have the same one I first tried there. One had EVODs and if I pointed out a bad one the clerk said "those all suck, we don't even sell them anymore" and then the next one I tried was actually pretty great. They all will let you drip in your dripper, of course, but that's a mixed bag. Avail has Nautiluses now (pic above with the blue light).

P.S. also saw one using TC mods.

Forgot to put this in with my earlier post about the shop the neighbor works at. Their customers join a "club" of some kind, for $1 a year. That membership entitles them to unlimited taste testing for the year. They have to show their membership card before entering the testing section of the store.

This thread made me realize I need an RDA. I have no interest in dripping but after filling a tank with a new flavor and it tasted like doody, I need something for sampling new flavors.

I'm a man, and I can change, if I have to, I guess.

    I need an rda too!

If you have no interest in dripping...why not just get an old-school cheap atomizer, like a JoyeTech 510 shorty or one of the JoyeTech Ego Mega Cone Shaped ones or Cylinder Shaped ones? I use those exclusively for taste testing recipes when I make and tweak new ones.

The JoyTech 510 ones come in just 1 style usually still available now (with the mesh covered atty head). The JoyeTech eGo Mega Cone Shaped ones come in 2 styles/types - (1) those that have just the pointy tip of the atomizer head sticking up in the bottom of the cylinder...that the end of a plastic tank punctures itself on to release eliquid from it, and my favorite (2) those that have an atomizer head point that's mesh covered. You just use a Type A drip tip and drip a few drops at a time on it. Gives a wonderful true taste and it's easy to burn off that flavor when it's time for the next one you want to test.

I got a ....load of the JoyeTech Mega Cone Shaped ones at The Vapor Room on clearance for $.50 each! They have the Type A mega drip tips to fit them, too, for only $.10! Even at those blow out prices...you can still use the code (thankyou) at Checkout, to get 10% more off your total purchase!

Here's a link to the JoyeTech Mega Cone Shaped Atomizers, still available in 1.5 and 2.0ohms resistance, in a variety of colors at the Vapor Room:

    JoyeTech eGo 2.0 & 1.5oHms MEGA Cone-Shaped Atomizer - The Vapor Room

The Type A Mega Drip Tips that fit them are also shown on that same page, and are still just $.10 each. Click on the image to go to the page for them.

By the way, they're an ECF Registered Supplier and are a terrific company to deal with. Always have gotten super customer service, quick shipping, and great products from them.
