I was on vacation in Vero Beach FL and went to check out a local vape shop about 5 mins away from my hotel. Very nice guys that were running the shop but they didn't know anything about vapeing. All they sold were cheap battery stick mods and very cheap juice. I picked up a couple juices that we're not good but just trying to support the new shop but I'm more concerned that shops like this will only deter people away from the vapeing scene. I'm still pretty new to the vape scene but I was answering their questions about building coils and how to setup the Kayfun I brought with me.

Sooo... Not at all trying to put these guys down but what do you do when you run into a situation like this. I wish I had more free time, as I was hoping to go back in and show them how to build simply coils and things like that.

I would think if they see customers come in with more high end/advanced vape gear, it would give them pause for thought and hopefully encourage them to try and meet their customers needs. IE: Start researching and offering better equipment. Way to help your vaping community! You could also point them here to ECF to learn more as omyeyes said.

A shop fairly local to me was exactly the same way, I couldn't for the life of me figure out how someone with little to no knowledge of vaping could open a vape shop but I guess it must happen fairly often.

I went back a month later and he had made significan't progress, really seemed like he knew what he was doing. Still not an expert mind you but good enough that you didn't feel like you had just stepped into the twilight zone.

Yeh, we have two shops locally. I've been to one of them and the guy offered me a job because I knew about his stock and he didn't. I turned down the offer but wrote the ECF url on his note pad and told him to join to learn and/or get on a approved-vendors list or find someone here to hire. He had some good stuff and I was impressed with that. He just didn't know anything about what he had.

The problem is that there is a growing market out there and someone has to fill the need. There are some folks out there that are afraid of ordering online due to rip offs and identity theft. We know there are ways to avoid both but not everyone does so they try to find a shop. Some shops are great, some aren't. While I can appreciate the support of small business, the perpetuation of ignorance (there is a huge difference between ignorance and stupidity btw) is not the way to do it. It was more of a service to them to turn them on to our Fam. I wish them all the best as they have invested their futures in the business. Let's all hope they take your advice and lear about their wares. Thanks for being a Good Samaritin!

It was a dedicated vapor shop. It was a very small shop and they only sold a few, very limited supply of vape stuff. Again the guys were very nice and asked me lots of questions. I would much rather deal with these guys than others who pretend to know everything. I certainly do not. I believe someone else owns the business and they are just locals who sell cheap rebranded juice. I guess you have to start somewhere. I did recommend ECF to them as you all have helped me so much when I started. I was a long time lurker before I actually joined. Hehe

Its a tough road to love/not love "the local shops", they bring anti- cancer to many but ruin the experience lots of times. They are not all the same, there are plenty on ecf who run local ones that I would turn the lights out with and ask whats for breakfast. After the 2008/2009 beat down no one really carries any supplies of parts in any business,be it ac ,faucets , parts of any kind.I try to go to any local shop and see how the its run and keep an open mind and really like who is behind it.
