What do you prefer? Regulated or unregulated devices?

I prefer modularity.

I'd like to be able to unscrew off the control head of my regulated mod, and screw on the topper in hybrid mech mode.

I'd buy a cheap regulated mod.
I'd buy a cheap mech for backup.
But I'd pay top dollar for a modular setup that allows to rearrange things and add or subtract options.

It's just like the vv vw thing;
I'd buy a cheap vv
I'd buy a cheap vw
But I ain't paying a high price for a 134 because its VW-only; same for a provari because its VV-only

Right now with mechs, you can add a kick; some come with a kick tube; soon, there'll be kick tubes coming with the kick with a screen included; then you will be able to buy a mech, and a kick and be able to optionally use regulated or unregulated whenever you wanted.

I'm strongly in the unregulated camp. I like the responsiveness and with good batteries little to no watt limitations. I pull my SVD off the shelf occasionally slap on a 2 ohm build and remember why I like unregulated mods :)

But, too each their own. There are some nice regulated mods out now, but I'm too cheap for a $300 60-100 watt mod.

@edyle I completely agree on the Provari. It is a very well built mod, but very behind the times in functionality. The lack of vw doesn't bother me as much as the 2.5 amp/~12 watt limit! That is below many cheap vv/vw devices!

@Double Helix, You will know when your battery is running low...shouldn't need the meter :) Your battery will not explode from low voltage. The concern is drawing more amps than your battery can handle, which is less likely to happen as your voltage drops. Low ohms on the other hand is an issue, but they shouldn't drop between builds unless you are suddenly shorting for some reason.

Good luck and happy vapes

I grab my Reo and I'm set for the day. Unregulated for me. I honestly sold my Provari for my Reo. It's dripping without dripping, indestructible, and powerful. Especially paired with a modified bottom fed Trident V2!

I got in on the DNA-30 co-op, and ordered 3 boards. One of them is going to be used in a DNA-30 powered wood-cased bottom-feeder I'm working on. It's gonna be a big mod--it HAS to be because I plan to cram dual parallel 18650s, a DNA board, and a squonking bottle all in there.

But it's going to be a "state-of-the-art" bottom feeder, that's for sure... ;-)
