I DIY, and I drip my new flavors to test them out. I still have a pretty basic dripping setup and would like to know what others use. I want to keep it basic, but better than what I'm using (the original eGo cone tips with the wick removed from the head). I would like to drip more just for pleasure, too, not just for testing new flavors.

yes, there are RDAs with mostly refer to rebuildable dripping atomizer like those
and RBAs that are the genisis thanks and the kayfuns, kayfuns, terminator, oddys ithakas and the likes
it is really simple you've been vaping longer that I have.
using microcoils and cotton is really simple, I havent had great results from normal builds or RBAs, but this drippers are really really simple to use.. you do have to learn about resistance and get a multimeter but it isn't hard to learn and it doesn't take much practice to get a good build. at first I started using my zmax and the IGO-L my first coils would meter at about 2.2 Ohms and fire great with a VW device, after a few tries I learned more less where I wanted my resistances to be and coiled aiming there.
I found it intimidating at first but once I built my first coil those fears vanished just take the dive

If you are using egos aim your resistance higher than 1.5 and you'll be alright
if you have an android phone there is a great app from a fellow ECF user called vapers toolbox or something similar, it will help you know more less how many loops and gauge of your wire to use given the resistance you want to achieve

Avidvapor.com bridgeless cisco spec atomizers.

Nothing is easier with trying new flavors than a RDA. I helped a friend try about 30 flavors in less than a hour..but I didn't use a standard wicking method. I used a nano (coils wrapped touching each other, with an 18 gauge or less diameter) over a bed of cotton(just a small amount of cotton directly under coil). It works great.

Oh..I use stainless steel mostly with my RBAs and drip atomizers or non punched cartomizers, derlin knuckleheads for everything else.
