What does it take to get your PMs operational?

Can someone explain it to me? And please, dumb it down as much as possible. I'm just a simple man with some vape juice and a dream.

Private messages? It takes a certain number of posts and a few hours. Just don't be tempted to make insubstantial posts to get your count up - it doesn't go over well with the mods (understandably!) You shouldn't really need to because I think you only have to have something like 5 posts. Then you have to wait a few hours for the board to update.
