While tinkering with my 510's over the past few weeks this is what I've noticed. With the cart off and looking into the atty while activating the battery, one of these will happen. WHAT DO THEY MEAN??

1. glows red with no vapor
2. glows red and produces vapor
3. does not glow or produce vapor
4. does not glow and produces vapor

They always make a sizzle sound.
What prompted this is that I have an Atty that tastes like crap all of the time and I cant figure it out.

1. Dry
2. slightly wet
3. flooded (or dead)
4. wet but not too wet.

the way I get rid of any bad tastes from an atty is to have a small pot big enough to take the atty, filled with vodka, drop the atty in it put the lid on give it a good shake. Take it out blow it all out on a tissue give it a little bit of time to dry, drop a couple of drips of juice onto the mesh bridge and start vaping with a filled cart. ......it can take quite a few puffs before it gets to producing lots of vapour again. It seems to always work for me.

From my experience with the 510, I think the following means:

1. glows red with no vapor
The coil is clean but the atty is dry, so nothing to produce vapor with.

2. glows red and produces vapor
The coil is clean and has some residual juice in it, which produces the vapor.

3. does not glow or produce vapor.
The coil is coated/gunked up so you can no longer see it glow and no juice to vaporize.

4. does not glow and produces vapor
The coil is coated/gunked up so you can no longer see it glow but has some juice to vaporize.

Sorry I can't help with the foul tasting atty, I have seen complaints of this before but fortunately have not experienced it myself.

Yes I think this is the most likely explanation with a used atty that has a crud build up.
