It's one way or another, try budget your purchase. What I do is to spend roughly on how much analog I spent per month. And if I find over budget, I'll wait for next following month.

Feel lucky i started with a SVD and then I got myself a Chi You clone for a mech mod. After rebuilding my PT2 with cotton and trying out RDAs like IGO-W and IGO-L, I feel that i do not really need to purchase further or upgrade as it will not bring much performance upgrade comparing to my current equipment.

Wah. All the advanced equipment. Wished there's a meet or something so the experts can impact knowledge to the noobs like me to use rbv and mods.
Me still using ego and mini-protank. Sometimes really no throat hit from the lower non-adjustable voltage, vapor also very light.

No fun and accomplishment when everything is spoon feed.
BTW Ego and mini is a good match, small but mighty! Its only the matter of how you build your coil. Try doing a nano or micro coil of 1.0 to 1.3ohms. Ego are able to fire it up. The taste, TH and vapor will surprise you.

There are egos and there are egos. Typically the amp limit is 2.8 if I'm not wrong. Several possible outcomes if you fire 1ohm coil on an ego.
3.7V = 3.7AMP * 1 OHM
1) ego doesn't fire
2) ego fires, but at a lower voltage
3) ego fires at 3.7V, exceeding amp limit. What happens next depends on your karma. It'll probably just get exceedingly hot, BUT do you want to take the risk of it blowing up? There are no vent holes in an ego.
There are a multitude of different manufacturers for the egos, so your ego can fire at 1 ohm safely, doesn't meant that all egos can do it. Better to be safe than missing a couple of fingers (although it's unlikely).
Zzzz. Scary. Guess i better stick to normal clearomisers, like protank first until I get my Evic.

Like danny said.. is not scary as it sound like... Dun be a kuku and keep continue using when the batt is very hot. And also.... all MOD will blow if you use it uncorrectly.
