Hey My parents are gonna give up on traditional cigs for ecigs, and i was wondering what would be a good starter ecig 2 get them to started. I started with a prosmoke ecig. My parents say they want like a traditional cig for like psychological reasons and what not. I was thinking bout recommending a M401 model or a joye 510 model. any advice would be great. Now for me, I vape using a M401 model what would be a good upgrade I was looking at a Joye 510 Or Joye Ego, any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

Not M401. The actual juice cup is very tiny and recessed. And cartridge plus atomizer is the messiest way to vape - can suddenly dump juice in your mouth. i used one the first 4 weeks I vaped and then bought more supported models with cartomizers available.

Joye 510 is fine for a light to moderate smoker of lights or ultralights who has access to electric power or USB power most of the day for charging. The batteries are 180mah so about 2 hours of moderate vaping. I only recommend the manuals - they are totally sealed on the threaded end so they are safe from being damaged or killed by juice leaks. Manuals also make it easier to get a good hit and will not turn on accidentally from wind or vibration. The Boge 3 ohm cartomizers are great on 510 for favorite every day juices instead of atomizer+cartridge (these are blank cartomizers - they would have to learn to fill them and keep them damp). A drip tip can be used on the atomizer to test juices (on manuals only)

Are either of your parents a heavy smoker, smoke full strength cigarettes, or a hard hot dragger? if so, I recommend instead at MINIMUM the SmokelessImage Volt in the 78mm size with manual batteries. This is a 3.6v mini and would be 120mm long with a cartomizer. (on manuals, you can use a DSE901 atomizer and drip tip to test juices - not good to put untested juice in cartomizers). If the person is a really hard dragger, instead consider the standard size manual kits from Vapor4Life (allows longer drags). They can use each others cartomizers and the SmokelessImage and Bloogplanet cartomizers would probably be better for them so get some of those too. (Vapor4Life cartos can be very hot on the lips and most use a drip tip as a cool mouthpiece with those, the other 2 I mentioned are more vapory and cooler on the lips)

For the very heavy smoker though it is best to skip slim ecigs but some people prefer to start on a slim one then come to the realization themselves that they need more (more charge or more heat). Models like Ego and Riva 510 from Liberty-Flights.com (Riva 510's are 3.7v there) are most popular.

Everything needs eliquid. You can get 4-7 days or more use out of one cartomizer by keeping it damp with eliquid and not singeing it. if you do not add liquid, they rarely last as long as a pack.

The difficult thing about vaping and ordering everything online is that they won't really know until they try it.

My mom (who smoked close to 60 years) thought she wanted something that resembled a cigarette and I got her the Smoke Tip with prefilled cartos. She liked it but it wasn't really enough for her so I got her the Riva ego. Still thought she wanted something closer to a cig so I got her the V4L KR808. Three kits in three weeks! Weeee!! And I'm not even talking about juice yet. She went back and forth with the KR808 & Ego and now uses the Ego most often and that's what got her off cigarettes.

None were a waste of money as far as she was concerned. Cigarettes are a waste of money. The kits were just the process she needed to go through. Probably no kit you start with will be your forever after pv. Well, except me. I'm pretty happy with my ego.

It depends on their smoking habits and lifestyle. I'm guessing they've been smoking quite awhile, right? How much do they smoke?

Welcome to the wonderful world that is ECF!

Speaking from my personal experience, being that I was a heavy smoker if they are as well they may want to consider compromising on their electronic to look like an actual cigarette. I am very happy with my eGo as well right now. There is
also the Riva like swedishfish had mentioned which is a bit cheaper. One of the best places to go for a starter kit would be
Liberty-Flights.com the US site. Their batteries come with a 2 month warranty and there is the 20% off coupon in the right upper corner all the time you can click when you order. I've ordered 3 starter eGo kits from them without any fuss or muss.
The Riva is at Liberty Flights.

Your parents should really consider coming onto ECF themselves and checking out some of the many pinned articles that are for educating people on what electronic cigarettes are all about and the different types available. The success stories can really be inspiring and give them a boost of confidence to give it a fair try.

This is true. Analog cigarettes are a COMPLETE waste.

And, over time, no matter how much you spend on starter kits you'll make the money back:)

Congrats to your parents for getting off the cigs, and you are wonderful for doing all the research and helping them!

I love my eGo, it's really not that big. No one has ever stopped in horror and pointed and me, gasped and shrieked "My God, what IS that thing!!!!" It's pretty discreet, but is a little bigger than a cig. Best thing is, it comes in colors! Take that, Marlboro!
Best of luck to them!

I have two sisters-in-law that started my husbands family on the e-cig bandwagon. They both got nice, big eGo-T's, but my mother and father in laws wanted to stick with something more traditional and went with the 510's. However, they are very heavy smokers, and while my MIL did okay with the 510 (she smokes Misty Slim 120's, a couple packs a day), my FIL didn't feel like it 'delivered' (Ligget straights, also a couple packs a day). Neither of them use their e-cigs anymore, but my SIL's both still do, almost 1 1/2years later. Also, in my personal experience, it didn't need to look like the cigarette as much as FEEL like one, and it's because of that I prefer using the flat tips as opposed to the round ones that LOOK like a cigarette ..... Just reassure them that just because it LOOKS more high tech doesn't mean it IS. It's the motion of the ocean (Bringing the cig to their mouths) :) ;) Good luck to your parents!

First time I started was with a Joye510, batteries were always dying...

eGo XL batteries got me all the way through a day, and hit better. Never tried the tanks, see mized reviewes on em.

for inexpensive, buy eGo batteries, and 2ohm cartomizers and a charger. I prefer cartos over atomizers, just alot less messy.

I'm also new to the vape scene and will start with a 510 kit. If this replaces analogs I should recoup my investment in a week at Cig prices in my neck of the woods. I'm pretty sure I can afford to try a few rigs before I settle and still be in the black. My current pack a day habit is costing me $3500 Cdn a year; that hurt just to type!:2c: I guess I'm trying to say a little experimenting will be cost effective in the long run.
